The system's voice resonated in Leo's mind as he stood, scythe in hand, facing the massive serpent that was slowly slithering closer. Its shadowy tendrils writhed around it, flames licking its body like living armor.
"Before you get too cocky," the system began, "you should know that the first monster you fought had heavy restrictions placed on it. In its prime, it would've obliterated you in seconds."
Leo furrowed his brows. "Wait, so you're saying I fought it at a fraction of its power?"
"Exactly," the system replied nonchalantly. "That beast's health bar was at 15 out of 500 when you fought it. And even then, it shrugged off your attacks like they were nothing."
Leo coughed, almost choking on his disbelief. "Fifteen? And it still felt like that?! Are you serious?!"
"Of course. But this is why I told you not to get too excited. The restrictions are in place to help you survive and level up quickly. After you defeat your fifth opponent, though..."
