Chereads / I Became A Venomous Scorpion! / Chapter 34 - A Feast For Leiurus

Chapter 34 - A Feast For Leiurus

The sun was dipping low, casting a warm, golden glow over the village. The scent of freshly baked bread and roasted meats began to fill the air as villagers bustled around, setting up tables and bringing out food. Today was a day of celebration — a celebration of the village's rebirth, and a celebration of Leiurus.

Garek watched as his wife, Lila, shyly approached Leiurus, their young daughter clinging to her mother's skirts. Garek had been waiting for this moment, eager to show off their small but mighty friend who had somehow transformed into this handsome, almost ethereal-looking young man.

"Lila, this is… well, you remember Blue?" Garek chuckled, scratching his head. "He's now going by Leiurus."

Lila's eyes widened, glancing from Garek to Leiurus in amazement. "Oh, my… Blue, is that really you?"

Leiurus gave a polite bow, his lips curling into a shy smile. "It's me, ma'am. Though I suppose I look a bit different now."

Their daughter peeked up at him, her eyes wide with wonder. "Papa, he looks like a prince!" she whispered, tugging on her father's sleeve.

Garek laughed, throwing an arm around Leiurus's shoulders. "A prince, eh? Well, we're lucky to have him here. Don't go thinking he'll be wearing crowns anytime soon."

Karin's husband, Einar, introduced her and their sons to Leiurus with a big, proud smile on his face. She had heard tales of the mysterious transformation from Blue to Leiurus, but seeing it with her own eyes was something else entirely.

Einar nudged her forward. "Go on, say hello."

Karin's cheeks flushed as she took in Leiurus's refined features and calm, dignified demeanor. "Well, I never thought I'd see the day… You're just a sight to behold, Leiurus. And to think, I used to chase you out of the vegetable patch!"

Leiurus chuckled, a light blush creeping up his cheeks. "You had every right to, ma'am. I apologize if I was ever a nuisance."

One of her sons stared up at Leiurus, his mouth agape. "Are you magic?" he blurted out, causing everyone to laugh.

Rowan walked up to Leiurus with his wife, Jenna, and their little boy, who clung to his mother's hand, staring at Leiurus as if he'd seen a ghost.

"So, you're telling me this handsome lad here is the same scorpion I saw scribbling blueprints in the dirt a week ago?" Rowan shook his head in disbelief, clapping Leiurus on the back.

Leiurus smiled, though he still seemed a little awkward around the attention. "I can hardly believe it myself, honestly."

Jenna looked Leiurus up and down, nodding in approval. "Well, if you're going to turn into anything, I'd say you did a fine job of it. Our son's been asking about you every day since the village reconstruction started."

Their son, wide-eyed, stepped forward. "Mister Leiurus… do you still have the claws?"

Leiurus chuckled, holding out his hands and mimicking pincers. "Not anymore, but I think I've still got a bit of sting left in me."

Mina approached Leiurus with her husband and young daughter in tow. She had been eager to meet this "new" Leiurus everyone had been talking about.

"So, you're the scorpion who helped us rebuild our home?" she asked, a glimmer of admiration in her eyes.

Leiurus dipped his head respectfully. "Just a scorpion trying to do some good, ma'am."

Her daughter, no more than four, looked up at him with big eyes. "Are you a fairy prince?"

Mina laughed, brushing her daughter's hair aside. "He does look like one, doesn't he? I think we're all just thankful to have such a… well, a handsome guardian looking out for us now."

Leiurus's blush deepened as he rubbed the back of his neck. "I… uh, thank you, ma'am. I'm honored."

The elder stepped forward last, a proud smile on his face as he took in the sight of Leiurus surrounded by villagers. His transformation had been a shock, yes, but it was clear that the people had come to accept him with open arms, seeing him not as a stranger, but as their little "Blue," now grown up.

"Leiurus," the elder said warmly, placing a hand on his shoulder. "It's not every day a creature of fortune finds its way to a humble village like ours. You've done more for us than we could ever repay."

Leiurus lowered his head, humbled. "Thank you, Elder. This village… it's as much my home as it is yours."

The elder smiled, nodding to the gathered villagers. "I think it's only fitting we celebrate this. Let's give thanks to Leiurus, to our new home, and to each other."

A cheer rose up from the villagers, their voices filling the air with joy and gratitude.

As the feast began, Eirik walked over with his family, all of them holding plates piled high with food. He grinned as he took a seat beside Leiurus, offering him a hearty slice of roasted meat.

"Eat up, lad! You look like you could use a bit of meat on those bones."

Leiurus laughed, taking the plate. "Thank you, Eirik. I'll do my best to keep up with everyone."

Eirik's wife chuckled. "He's a growing boy, after all."

Lora, one of the youngest in the village, had her own plate piled high with treats. She shyly approached Leiurus, her face red as she held out a small, woven bracelet.

"I… I made this for you," she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.

Leiurus accepted the gift with a warm smile, kneeling down to her height. "Thank you, Lora. It's beautiful. I'll wear it proudly."

Lora beamed, her cheeks turning a bright shade of red. "You're welcome, Mister Leiurus!"

The feast continued well into the night, with laughter, music, and the clinking of mugs filling the air. Plates were piled high, and tables overflowed with fruits, vegetables, and freshly baked bread. Children darted around, their faces sticky with sweets, while the adults shared stories and laughter.

Every so often, a villager would raise a toast to Leiurus, each one more heartfelt than the last. They toasted to his strength, to his kindness, and to the strange twist of fate that had brought him to them.

.

Leiurus watched it all unfold with a feeling of warmth he hadn't felt in years. Here he was, once a tiny scorpion, now seated among a village full of friends, their faces bright with laughter and joy. For the first time in this new life, he felt truly at home.

As the night wore on, he found himself at the center of a small group of children, all of them clamoring for stories of his adventures in the forest.

"Tell us about Grimfang!" one of them shouted.

"What about the time you saved the well?" another added.

Leiurus chuckled, settling back with a smile. "Alright, alright. Let me tell you about the time I met Grimfang for the very first time…"

Watching from a distance, Elyndra observed Leiurus surrounded by his newfound family, a gentle smile gracing her lips. She could see the bond he had formed with these people, and it warmed her heart to know he had found a place where he was appreciated, not as a monster or an outsider, but as a friend.

"This is just the beginning for him," she thought to herself, a sense of pride swelling within her. She had given him a true name, but he had given this village something just as powerful — hope, and a sense of belonging.

Grimfang sat at the edge of the festivities, a satisfied rumble echoing in his chest as he watched Leiurus among the villagers. The big, feathery beast felt a sense of pride, knowing that the little scorpion he'd once chased was now something of a hero.

"He's come far," Grimfang muttered, nodding approvingly. "But he's still got a long way to go."

As the night continued, Leiurus felt a profound peace settle over him. Surrounded by laughter, warmth, and the joyful sounds of a village united, he couldn't help but feel that this moment, this gathering of friends and family, was what he'd been searching for all along.

The village would grow, new challenges would come, but for now, there was only joy.
