Auxiliary Chapter (An Introduction to the World of the Novel)

An Introduction to the World of the Novel:

The world of my story is called Eldrithoria. It is home to four groups of species; The Hallow-Nocturnals, inspired by Halloween monsters; the Fabled Mythos, consisting of mythical creatures; the Spirits, who connect the former two; and the Terrans, or humans, who are not native to this world.

After destroying their own post-apocalyptic Earth through arrogance, humans sought a new home in Eldrithoria after light years of searching for a new inhabitable world. They quickly attempted to dominate the land, waging wars against the native species using advanced technology and exploiting their various weaknesses. Within two and a half centuries, they controlled over 85% of Eldrithoria, repeating the destructive patterns of their past.

However, a united resistance emerged after centuries of conflict. Led by the Spirits, who were unaffected by the war, this coalition—comprising dragons, elves, werewolves, vampires and all the rest—began to reclaim their world. They shared magical powers with one another and formed the "Society of Freaks," a name that undermined human morale.

The humans struggled against magic, their advanced technology unable to keep up and lost control of their robotic creations who sided with the enemy. They thus resorted to an ultimate weapon designed to annihilate entire species in an instant using species-specific killer frequency. But in a twist of fate, this weapon backfired, eradicating 90% of humanity instead.

The remaining humans retreated into hiding in underground bunkers while the native races celebrated their victory and ushered in a new era of unity and prosperity.

This all took place one thousand years before the present day.

The magic/ cultivation system:

Now, the source of magic stems from an event based on the "Big Bang" and the "meteor that killed the dinosaurs". Essentially, a Big Bang equivalent event took place several centuries ago that released a unique meteor from another dimension, the dimension of the Spirits. This meteor was the dormant form of the very first spirit that came into existence and this meteor would one day collide with Eldrithora, back when the world was inhabited by savage pre-evolved forms of the native inhabitants.

When the meteor collided it sent a shockwave around the world, splitting the original spirit in two. Half became energy that spread across the world and was absorbed by the planet and it's inhabitants, evolving it into the world it became. The other half manifested into the spirit race. This event was coined the "Grand Emergence".

Depending on the species, magic was absorbed differently. The more non-sapeine far more savage creatures hardly evolved at all, though they did gain some amount of greater intelligence. However this did not stop them from still being too animalistic to be considered "sapien", hence the name for them, Feral Beast.

For the more sapien species, as in the more prominent creatures, they evolved and formed greater civilisations and cultures between them. The top three dominating the evolution ladder being witches, elves and Dragons, the latter one being the most wise and prominent in magic, while the former two just behind them.

After the war, and the unity between species, the inclusion of spirit power would give birth to four forms of magic style teaching. These are:

1. Nature Style

Origin: Elf-based magic

Users: Mostly elves and Drak sleeves, but all Fabled Mythos can learn this.

Core: Positive emotions.

Focus: Defensive and healing abilities, natural feat improvement.

Characteristics: Harnesses internal arcane energy for protective and restorative purposes

2. Vile Style

Origin: Witch-based magic

Users: All Hallow-Nocturnals and most species (except machines)

Core: Negative emotions

Focus: Offensive and violent abilities

Characteristics: Channels internal arcane energy for destructive and aggressive purposes

3. Artificial Style

Users: Exclusively machines

Origin: Developed after machines rebelled against their creators. It's not magic in the same way for everyone else but for simplicity's sake think of it like machine magic.

Core: Artificial forms of energy harness

Characteristics: Unique feats only accessible to machine entities

4. Draconic Style

Users: Exclusively dragons

Core: Elemental power

Characteristics: Manipulation of elemental forces specific to dragon physiology and heritage.

Now bloodline is everything when it comes to magic, the more noble the bloodline of a specific family the more adept and powerful the magic they can utilize. However, species-wise, the top three slots for most powerful magic users are as follows:

Spirits>>>>>>>>>> Dragons>>>> Elves/Witches
