Li Shen knelt beside Mei Ling, channeling healing qi into her wounds. His eyes kept darting to Hao who stood motionless in the corner of the chamber, that white porcelain mask revealing nothing. Something about her movements nagged at his mind, as if his own body knew how to react to hers, his eyes accustomed to her looks, but his memory refused to give him the answer.
"Hold still," he muttered to Mei Ling as he extracted corrupted qi from a gash on her shoulder. The dark energy dissipated into the air with a hiss.
A sudden scraping sound drew his attention. Hao's body convulsed, her hands clawing at the mask. Without warning, she launched herself at Li Shen with frightening speed.
Li Shen barely managed to roll away as Hao's fist cratered the stone floor where he'd been kneeling. Drawing on the Agility of the Crane technique, he bounded across the chamber in a fluid motion.
