Chapter 1:- Set a Small Goal First, Escape From Konoha

---

As a transmigrator into the world of Naruto, Natsuki Matao felt that keeping a clear head was essential. The basics of a transmigrator, after all, included staying calm, blending in, and not drawing unnecessary attention. But even knowing this, his mind was still reeling.

After all, this was Naruto. The world he'd spent years reading about in manga, watching in anime, and even diving into fanfiction for extra immersion. And now, somehow, he had landed in it.

a village filled with ninjas—people capable of jumping between rooftops, controlling elements with chakra, and wielding power he had only ever seen in episodes and fanfiction stories. That part alone was mind-blowing, but the reality quickly set in. This was THE Konoha, the Village Hidden in the Leaves. And while Konoha might have appeared peaceful on the surface, Matao knew better.

Thanks to his years of reading the manga, watching the anime, and devouring fanfiction, Matao knew the truth about Konoha's darker side. He didn't outright hate the village—he could appreciate its strength and its sense of community—but he couldn't forget the injustices it had allowed to fester beneath the surface. This was a village built on sacrifice, often at the expense of those who were too young or too innocent to fight back.

he remembered Information about this world—both the canon events and the countless what-if scenarios from fanfiction he'd read.

And none of it brought comfort.

This wasn't just an exciting new world of cool ninjas. It was a place of war, betrayal, child soldiers, and—more than anything—a place that had chewed up and spat out Naruto and Sasuke.

After a few days of adjusting to this world, Matao got a better sense of his new life. He had inherited the body of a six-year-old orphan—a common enough trope in fanfiction. His new parents had died on the battlefield while he was just a baby, leaving him to grow up in the village's orphanage. Only recently had he been moved out of the orphanage after being tested for the Academy, where Killers are trained from birth.

It was also then that Matao fully understood the darker realities of this world. His new parents, like so many others, had died on the battlefield while he was just a baby, and their remains were never found. This world was a war machine, a never-ending cycle of death and destruction.

Now he was living on his own, a freshly minted student of the Ninja Academy, with a small stipend and the promise of a shinobi education. But Matao wasn't naive—he knew exactly what that meant. Konoha would invest in him, train him, and eventually expect him to fight and maybe die for the village.

Though he wasn't immediately inclined to hate Konoha, Matao couldn't forget the stories of characters like Naruto, Sasuke, and Itachi. He knew what the village had done to them. How Naruto had been neglected and ostracized as a child, left to fend for himself. How Sasuke's entire clan had been wiped out due to a conspiracy within the village, leaving him consumed by hatred and revenge. And how Itachi, one of the most tragic figures in the series, was forced to massacre his own clan on orders from Konoha's higher-ups to prevent a civil war.

It wasn't that Matao thought Konoha was purely evil, but he knew it wasn't the shining, perfect village it appeared to be. It had its dark side, and if you weren't careful, you could easily get caught in it. He knew exactly how this would play out.

"You scratch the village's back, and they'll eventually expect you to fight and die for them."

Matao understood the need to keep a careful balance. He couldn't afford to trust Konoha blindly, but neither could he afford to make enemies. He respected its strength and the sense of unity that bound the villagers together, but that didn't mean he trusted it completely.

At the end of the day, Konoha was a military village. It had systems in place that kept the peace—but it also had secrets, manipulation, and countless tragedies woven into its fabric. To survive here, Matao would have to play along, adapt, and ensure he didn't stand out too much.

His new life was just beginning, and Matao knew he had to navigate it carefully.

It was currently the year 19 years before the birth of Naruto Uzumaki, the Child of Prophecy, and the world was still in the midst of the Second Shinobi World War. That meant instability and danger lurked on the horizon. Kids weren't spared in this world, and Matao knew that the village wouldn't hesitate to throw him and others his age into the fray if they were needed.

The realization sent a chill down his spine.

He had read enough about this world to know that kids as young as six or seven, if they showed enough potential, were already being sent into combat. The thought of it disgusted him, but he couldn't act on those feelings. Not yet. His focus had to remain on surviving and building his strength. Konoha was powerful, but so were its enemies. If Matao wanted to stay alive, he had to tread carefully.

-----

April arrived.

and with it came the first day of his life at the Ninja Academy.

Matao stood in a crowd of children as they gathered in front of the academy's courtyard for the opening ceremony. The atmosphere was lively, almost festive, with some children arriving alone and others accompanied by their parents. Matao had come by himself, blending into the crowd, making sure not to draw too much attention. That was the key here—don't stand out.

He wasn't here to make friends or be a prodigy. He was here to learn the system, find a way to grow stronger, and—most importantly—survive.

As the ceremony began, Matao recognized the man standing at the podium. He wore ceremonial robes and carried a warm, grandfatherly smile. But Matao knew who he really was.

Sarutobi Hiruzen. The Third Hokage.

He was a figurehead of the village, respected by most and seen as a wise and benevolent leader. He spoke about the "Will of Fire," the philosophy that the village was built on—the belief that the village was one big family, and every citizen had a duty to protect that family. To the children and parents in the crowd, Sarutobi's speech probably sounded inspiring. But to Matao, it was a carefully crafted piece of rhetoric, designed to maintain control and foster loyalty.

Matao didn't dislike Sarutobi, but he wasn't naive enough to trust him blindly either. After all, this was the man who allowed characters like Itachi to suffer for the sake of the village's stability. Matao had read enough fanfiction and *Naruto* lore to understand that even the most well-meaning leaders in Konoha made questionable decisions.

As Sarutobi spoke about Konoha's greatness and the "Will of Fire," Matao played along. He pretended to be inspired like the other kids, nodding along and giving the appearance of awe. But inside, he remained guarded. The village was powerful, yes, but that power came with strings attached. If he wasn't careful, he could easily get tangled in them.

Matao had to be smart about this. He couldn't afford to make enemies, but he also couldn't afford to let his guard down.

After the ceremony, the new students were led into the academy to start their classes. Matao blended in with the rest, keeping his head down and his mind sharp. He knew the dangers of this world, and he knew that his survival depended on how well he could navigate the intricacies of Konoha.

For now, he would learn. He would adapt. And he would survive.

But deep down, Matao never forgot the darker truths he had uncovered about this village—the sacrifices it demanded and the tragedies it allowed to happen. He wouldn't hate Konoha, but he wouldn't be its blind follower either.

Natsuki Matao's journey in the world of Naruto had begun, and he was ready to face whatever came next—with caution and calculation.

THE END
