Chapter 14 - Chained by Faith

After the competition was over, Yu Chen anxiously searched for Wei Yu, but he was no where to be seen.

"Bro, what are you looking for?" Someone asked. The voice was smooth and gentle, but for Yu Chen it was like a devil spawned out of no where. This person was the person he hated the most. Even more then Ling Xiao. If Ling Xiao wanted to kill this person; he wanted to skin him alive.

"My Shidi, have you seen him." Yu Chen sneered. Even if he hated this person he was still the son of the sect leader; his master and his uncle. He had to respect him. But that didn't stop him from his rude behavior as he had full rights to behave like this.

Chen Yuxuan just laughed at his step-brothers hostile behavior. He was used to this and didn't mind. "I think I saw Wei Shidi running to your residence, he seemed quite panicked."

Before Chen Yuxuan could finish Yu Chen had already stormed of in the direction of his residence. And just like that, Chen Yuxuan was left behind, again. But in response he just flicked his fan and covered the grin that appeared on his lips.

He then sent a record talisman. "It's done." He then lightly chuckled and turned to leave.

"How dare that Chen Yuxuan trick me?! Can he not see that I'm worried for Wei Yu?" Yu Chen screamed, walking back and forth in his room complaining to Ling Xiao. He rushed to his residence but Wei Yu was no where to be found, and since the sun had set he could not go out searching for him. Yu Chen was enraged.

" Chill, I'm sure our Wei Shidi is safe out there." Ling Xiao reassured. "Why would you even trust him?"

"I thought he was for once serious! But no! What could I even expect from him?"

"Well, Wei Yu must be in his quarters. I'm sure that young lad won't want trouble."

Yu Chen paced back and forth and finally came to a stop, he looked outside of his window and sighed. "I hope so."

The night after his victory, Wei Yu found himself alone in his quarters, his mind racing with the aftermath of the tournament and the message . He hadn't fully processed what had happened in the arena, nor the strange surge of power that had taken over him. He had barely managed to control himself during the fight, and now... a strange feeling lingered in his chest, like a shadow that wouldn't let go.

Suddenly, a cold gust of wind swept through the room, though the windows were closed. The candlelight flickered, casting long, eerie shadows across the walls. Wei Yu's eyes darted to the door, which was slightly ajar.

Then, a voice echoed in his mind—low, chilling, and impossible to ignore.

"Wei Yu... we know what you are."

His breath caught in his throat. He hadn't heard anyone enter. He stood frozen, feeling the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. He swallowed hard, trying to steady his pulse. His mixed blood—his so called secret—that even he himself was not aware of. But this voice—this presence—spoke with such certainty.

"Do not think you can escape what you are. The blood of demons flows in your veins. We have been watching you, waiting. You can try to run from your heritage, but it will always find you."

Wei Yu's hands clenched around his sword hilt instinctively, though he knew there was no physical threat here—at least, not one he could see. The words sent a chill crawling down his spine, as if the voice itself were alive, reaching out from the darkness.

"Your victory today... it wasn't yours alone. You used something more than just your training. We felt it—the power of your demon blood. Don't think we haven't noticed. You cannot hide who you truly are. The moment you reveal your true potential, we will come for you."

The room grew colder, the shadows deeper. Wei Yu's breath quickened. Who was this? And how did they know?

"You may think that your shixiong, Yu Chen, can protect you. But we have eyes everywhere. Even your shixiong is unaware of what you are truly capable of. Soon, you will understand that no one can hide from their fate, especially not you. We will find you, and when we do... you will regret ever being born."

A cold laugh echoed in his ears, cruel and mocking.

"Sleep well, Wei Yu. Because when you wake, we will be closer than you think."

And just as suddenly as it had come, the voice vanished. The room returned to its stillness, but Wei Yu felt the weight of its presence pressing in on him, suffocating him. His heart pounded in his chest, his hands trembling as he looked around, as if expecting some shadow to leap from the corners of the room.

But there was nothing. No figure. No sign.

Only a lingering, dark feeling that refused to let him go.

As Wei Yu stood in the quiet, empty room, the words of the haunting message echoed in his mind, louder now than ever:

"We know what you are."

He was now certain that he was a mixed blood, only a fool could ignore such messages. Now that he knew, if his shixiong found out, what will he do? His Grandpa! he could not meet his grandpa for a week and he missed him dreadfully. Surely his grandpa knows something. He had to find out, what.
