Chapter 2 - I can't get peace

After four years.

Under the scorching sun a person was trying to fight with a hand made wooden soldier. It seemed like a child not much older then 12.

HAH!

"Aiya, Wei Yu my sweet child why fight so hard? Come come, let this grand father take a look at you."

"Grandpa!! I'm practicing. If I don't practice diligently then how am I going to protect you?" exclaimed the child. This child was no more then Wei Yu who had grown up. All he could remember was that he ran and ran and eventually collapsed. Next thing he knew, he was laying in an uncomfortable bed with an old man claiming to be his grandfather. But the strangest thing was, his grandfather had asked him his name.

What kind of grandfather don't know their own grandson's name?

He could not remember anything except for his name. Wei Yu, Wei Yu,....WEI YU RUN!!. Only this voice remained in his mind haunting him for years. What kind of voice was this? No one could answer and he thought of it as his past trauma. He remembered fire everywhere, people shouting and crying and many fleeing. He was unable to know about his parents from his grandfather. Whenever he asked about it his grandfather would just ignore the question or change the topic.

"Grandpa, was my mom a beauty?"

"Mhm.."

" What was her name?"

"OH! Wei Yu have you taken our fish for a walk? if you haven't then I'll go and feed our dog, I mean fish haha-"

"=_="

And their day's went on like this with peace.

"Wei Yu, can you go down the mountain and pick some berries? This grandpa is craving some."

"Okay! I will go!" Said Wei Yu and happily jumped up and down skipping while going down the mountain.

'Are these berries poisonous? Hmm....' thought Wei Yu. Suddenly he heard shouts from a distance. He rushed to follow the sounds and as he got closer the sounds became more and more clear. It was like the sounds in his dream's. Terrifying. As he got closer he carefully hid behind a bush and observed some strange people wearing light blue robe's.

'What strange yet amazing clothes.' He looked further and saw that they were fighting with a large snake. It's color was green and it was very alluring. Not only that but it's venom also had the potential to be made as a medicine. And it's scales made excellent weapon's. Suddenly they all moved and corned it into a circle. The snake hissed loudly and they all charged from different directions.

One of them was sitting in a meditative pose and was reciting something. It was unknown what he was reciting. But watching this scene gave Wei Yu a sense of familiarity and nostalgia, but he could not figure it out.

BOOM!

AN EXPLOSION FROM THE FORMATION!

"THE FORMATION HAS FAILED!!!"

Under the chaos Wei Yu looked at the cultivator who was sitting alone, his eyes widened. Suddenly He screamed and got out of his hiding spot

"Immortal Senior! Behind you!" Screamed Wei Yu.

The cultivator immediately looked back and saw the serpent ready to attack!

At this moment Wei You felt helpless. He wanted to help these strangers but he knew that he is only going to increase the tension. He Hated It. He hated being powerless.

Wei Yu took a deep breath, his fingers tightening around the hilt of his wooden sword as he watched the cultivator standing alone against the massive serpent. Dressed in flowing robes of deep azure, the lone cultivator exuded a calm, resolute aura. His hands formed elegant, deliberate gestures, and with each subtle movement, a flicker of spiritual energy danced along his fingertips, like threads of lightning weaving through the air.

The serpent lunged, its green scales shimmering under the sunlight. Fangs glistening, it lashed out, and the cultivator sidestepped with precision, pivoting smoothly on one foot as he swung his blade in a graceful arc. The blade's aura extended, forming a crescent-shaped slash that struck the serpent's scales with a resonant clang.

Undeterred, the serpent whipped its massive tail, sending a gust of wind strong enough to rattle the trees. But the cultivator didn't flinch. With a quick chant, he summoned a protective barrier, translucent and glowing, to shield him from the impact. The tail hit the barrier, and for a moment, Wei Yu felt a vibration ripple through the ground.

As the serpent coiled itself, the cultivator switched to a two-handed stance, channeling energy from the earth itself. He moved his hands in a sweeping motion, and from the soil sprang thorny vines that wrapped around the serpent's body, digging into its scales. The snake writhed, its hisses piercing the air like thunder. With a mighty twist, it snapped the vines, but in the distraction, the cultivator had leaped high into the air, bringing his sword down with a fierce cry.

SHING! The blade struck true, piercing through one of the weaker sections near the serpent's head. Green blood splattered across the ground as the beast let out a final, anguished hiss, thrashing in its death throes.

As the dust settled, the cultivator slowly sheathed his sword, breathing heavily but maintaining his composure. He recited a quiet chant of thanks, as if paying respect to the fallen beast. Wei Yu felt a strange pang in his chest—a flicker of memory, a sense of familiarity that he couldn't quite place. This ancient way of combat, the elegance, the raw strength…it was like looking into a part of himself he had long forgotten.
