' But is it true?. What she said about me?. But come to think of it, what happened to my bruises and pains?... I just feel as confused as ever'. Bless thought to himself as he came right out of the bathroom. He wore a towel wrapped around his waist, his hair still dripping wet.
He slipped into something more simpler, as he took his time reading his notes. It has never been easy for him to adapt in school, as he was faced with difficulty, both in language and otherwise. His mother was a Yoruba Woman from Ondo state, while his father was an Igbo man from Anambra State. He was born in New York, New Jersey and lived there for seventeen years till his parents had to relocate.
Back then in America, he never had any friends. Bless wasn't good in socializing as he always kept to himself, there was nothing special about him, even though he was quite brilliant. And with that, he never argued with his parents when he was told of the relocation.
Mother was not at home, as she had already gone to work. She recently got hired as a sales manager of a notable company. His father was not yet back from his business trip, so he was home alone.
For an unknown reason he felt bored. Though he was used to that kind of lifestyle by now, but he couldn't help it. His mind once drifted off to what happened in school.
He was chased by Sam and his friends and was almost beaten to death, not until he met a beautiful girl with slender body that rescued him, telling him that she was a magician?. But hold on, does magic exist?.
He has never read any book about magic or magicians, yet he was certain she was telling him the truth. After all, he witnessed it right before his very eyes. He saw Ozo there too, that means that they were kind of close??. And who was the other guy with them??. Did they also have magical powers?.
He shut his eyes as he climbed unto the bed, trying to sleep, but he just couldn't. Thinking of what to do, he became really clueless,he went out to get a breathe of fresh air, the door bell rang.
He was confused as to who might be knocking at this hour, as he wasn't expecting any one... . Nevertheless, he went to have a look at whom it might be.
With his hands fixed on the door knob, the door creaked open, he was shocked at whom he saw.
" You?... And you?...?". He couldn't believe it , his mouth opened in shock as he was struggling to find the right words.
Nengi wore a smirk, shoving him aside she walked in with Sasha.
" Y- you are...".
Looking around she heaved a sigh. " Not bad... Hey, you don't need to act surprised after everything that happened today ". She said crossing her arms.
" B- but how did you know my house?". Bless asked but quickly realizing that he asked an almost foolish question, he gasped.
" Magician?. Now I remember".
" That's not my name...". Nengi said scoffing.
Scratching his head, he discovered that it was true.
" So- so - so what's your name?". Bless asked stuttering.
" Do you usual stutter like this or do you because I'm here?". Nengi said with a hint of mischief evident in her toneto
Sasha rolled his eyes. What was Nengi trying to drive at?. Was she trying to play with Bless's head?.
" Well... My name is Nengi Okonkwo, and yes... But to be honest, I'm a witch". She admitted.
" Y- you are a witch?. But...".
Sasha clicked his tongue, it was time to get down to business.
" Umm, look we came here because of what happened previously today...".
" What is your name... And are you also a witch too?". Bless asked in eagerness.
" Me?. No!. I'm not a witch!. Well, but I also possess some powers too".
" But what kind of powers?-..".
Cutting in sharply, " Why don't you say the word rather, and not beating around the bush. He's a phoneix, and the last of it's kind''. Nengi explained.
Shrugging his shoulders " Yes, that's the truth".
" Phoneix?. You mean a bird?... I- I just can't wrap my head around what you just said now!. God !. Is this true?. Am I just dreaming?". Bless felt like screaming.
Nengi laughed heartily. She liked the way he behaved a times.
" You are not dreaming, it's reality ". Sasha told him.
" But.. Witchcraft is evil, and it's devilish...".
" Hold on, hold on, what did you just say... Evil?. As far as I know, there are good witches and bad witches, and trust me it all depends on whichever one you decide ". Nengi explained.
" And besides, we came here because of what happened today. Your bruises why were they healed?. Right before our eyes, your injuries were healed, and yet you claim that you have nothing to do with witchcraft?".
Bless scratched his head, clearly thinking of an answer. He couldn't understand what happened to him.
" I- i- I just make sense of what happened honestly."
" And that's why we are here, to help you understand who you are". Sasha replied.
" But how... What about Ozo?."
" You know your accent is funny when you speak Igbo, Americana ". Nengi chuckled.
" Hey you... anyways, you are true about that, I still found it difficult to understand Igbo language". Bless confused.
" Ozo is not aware that we are here. And if he is, he would be really mad about that...as he sternly warned us not to see you again ".
" But... Why?". Bless asked with a hint of hurt.
" No buts.. are you ready?, cos we are going somewhere that will lead you to discovering who you are".
" Where?.. and hold on, my parents will be back any minute!". Bless protested.
" Too late for that, it's time to get down to business ". Nengi said and with a wave of if her hand, they vanished into thin air .
