Chapter 33 - The Feather And Yuriko Takagi

When the golden statue was erected.

The bishops and clergymen in the church became the first group of believers, kneeling before the statue with fanatical eyes and bowing their heads.

Those whom the World Government uses as religious pawns are essentially diehards cultivated by the organization since childhood.

This kind of loyalty is not emotional but follows orders unwaveringly.

If they develop independent thinking, they are brainwashed to believe the World Government is supreme.

Only those successfully brainwashed are deployed.

Those who fail are usually sent to CP organizations for other uses.

The next day.

When the villagers came to the church, they sought the bishop with confusion.

"Mr. Bishop, why has the idol changed?"

The bishop responded with a deeply moved expression. "Don't you know? Yesterday, the World Government decided to free some of the slaves."

Hearing this, everyone was shocked.

"What? The World Government will free slaves? Really?"

"Impossible. Aren't those slaves owned by the Celestial Dragons? Why would they do this?"

"That's right, Bishop. Are you sure you haven't been deceived?"

The bishop shook his head. "I haven't been deceived. It's confirmed. The World Government released some slaves, thanks to a Celestial Dragon named Kaos."

The villagers were astonished.

The Celestial Dragons were known for buying slaves.

Why would one of them choose to free slaves?

The bishop explained, "Although many Celestial Dragons commit evil acts that anger humans, there are also compassionate ones. Kaos is such a person."

"Seeing the suffering of the slaves, he has been lobbying the World Government to release them all."

"He is even willing to cover the costs of sending the freed slaves back to their homelands."

"Due to his persistence, the World Government decided to free some of the slaves."

"And he is still working hard to convince the World Government to free all of them."

"Do you know the most important part?"

The villagers exchanged confused looks and shook their heads.

The bishop pointed toward the sea. "Didn't you notice that when you woke up today, the Marine warships were patrolling far more frequently than before?"

The villagers thought about this.

"That's true, Bishop. If you hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have realized."

"In the past, the Marines patrolled once daily at most. This morning, I saw them three or four times already."

"That's unusual."

"Does this have to do with this Celestial Dragon named Kaos?"

"Absolutely." The bishop nodded, his expression moved. "His Highness Kaos, after learning about the frequent pirate attacks here, personally went to Naval Headquarters to request increased protection for civilians. He even volunteered to cover the cost of additional patrols from his own funds."

"In my opinion, compared to the gods we previously worshipped, His Highness Kaos is the real god. He has the world in his heart."

"He cares for our safety."

"He fights for justice and fairness."

"That's why I've decided that our church will now be dedicated to His Highness Kaos."

"After all, he can truly hear our prayers, can't he?"

"I even heard that he is the incarnation of an angel, an apostle of the gods walking among us."

Hearing these words, the villagers were awestruck.

It seemed inconceivable that a Celestial Dragon would act so benevolently toward commoners.

Soon, the priests, influenced by the bishop, also appeared deeply moved by Kaos's deeds.

The villagers began nodding in agreement.

"Bishop, you're right. His Highness Kaos is truly kind-hearted."

"He thinks about the common people, so different from other Celestial Dragons."

"If all Celestial Dragons were like him, we'd have no complaints."

"And if His Highness Kaos is the incarnation of an angel, he's akin to a god. Worshipping him seems only natural."

The bishop smiled warmly. "Since everyone agrees, let us begin our prayers. This is the new prayer."

With this, the bishop distributed the new prayer sheets to the villagers.

The sheets bore the symbol of two golden wings, which gonna become the official emblem of the religion of Kaos and his unique mark—a symbol personally chosen by Kaos and the Five Elders.

As the villagers entered the church, the bishop revealed a satisfied smile.

Doomsday World.

After a meeting with the five elders yesterday, Kaos returned to his tent, where he found Stussy waiting at the entrance.

"Your Highness, there is an important guest inside the tent waiting for you."

"Guest?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Is there anything else?"

"The ship that will transport Saya Takagi's parents has been prepared. If you do not require my service or assistance, there is something I must attend to, so I will leave."

Initially, he had planned to relax under Stussy's care, but since she had something to do, it wasn't a problem. His tent had plenty of maids, and he could simply choose a mother-daughter pair to enjoy his time.

Waving his hand dismissively, he said, "You may leave. Let me see who this guest is."

Kaos entered the tent and found Eleanor sitting on one of the chairs, sipping tea.

As soon as she saw Kaos, she smiled—a smile that made her look like a woman deeply in love, unable to stay away from her beloved for long.

Upon seeing Eleanor, Kaos changed his plans as an idea formed in his mind.

Outside the tent

Once Stussy saw him enter, she swayed her slender waist and left.

She returned to Kaos' castle in mariejois and searched for Saya.

She found her gazing out the window toward the shore, worry etched on her face. Saya Takagi seemed not to notice her presence.

Adjusting her expression, Stussy smiled.

"Saya."

The moment Saya heard her voice, she snapped out of her daze and turned to look at Stussy. "Ah, Miss Stussy," she greeted her respectfully. Everyone knew that Stussy was the head maid and Kaos' right hand.

"You seem worried about your parents," Stussy observed.

Saya smiled weakly. "Of course, Miss Stussy. My parents are weak compared to the people of this world, so I'm worried. I don't know what they'll face." She felt conflicted. After all, it was Stussy herself who was tasked with punishing them. But at the same time, Saya understood that her parents were at fault.

Silence hung between them for a moment before Stussy displayed a conflicted and hesitant expression, which Saya noticed but didn't understand.

Stussy pulled out a white feather, holding it delicately as though it were a treasured item.

Saya raised an eyebrow, puzzled. Why was Stussy holding a feather, and why did she treat it like a priceless treasure?

"His Highness is extremely kind. He gave me a feather from his sacred wings, imbued with a portion of his divine power. He instructed me to give it to you, to offer it to your parents. If they are in danger, as long as they have this feather, it will save them."

Saya's eyes widened in shock upon hearing this, and then a look of joy appeared on her face. "Really? Is what you're saying true?"

Saya was immediately excited. In her eyes, Kaos was incredibly powerful—almost godlike. Considering the magical things in this world, she didn't doubt for a moment that the feather could carry Kaos' power.

Her sadness dissipated entirely as she gazed at the feather in delight, her gratitude toward Kaos soaring.

"Of course, it's true. Do you doubt my words?" Stussy feigned an offended expression, scaring Saya.

"Of course not," Saya quickly shook her head. She didn't believe Stussy would lie about something like this. The hesitation Stussy had shown earlier clearly indicated her reluctance to give them the feather, proving it was a genuine gift from Kaos. After all, Saya knew that Stussy was Kaos' most loyal servant. Without his command, Stussy might have killed her parents herself for insulting him.

Saya's gaze remained fixed on the feather, eager to take it from Stussy's hands.

"I'm glad you understand." Stussy nodded in satisfaction, but her face soon turned serious.

"Your parents don't deserve this feather. But since it's His Highness's command, I won't object. There's something else, though."

"Something else? What is it?" Saya looked at Stussy's sour expression, uncertain of what to expect.

"Originally, your parents' punishment was to last for a year. But His Highness, in his mercy, decided to reduce it to one month. He saw your sadness and, out of his kindness, changed his decision."

"Only one month?" Saya was astonished. Her expression turned to joy and euphoria. Her gratitude toward Kaos skyrocketed. Not only had he given her parents such a precious feather to protect them, but he had also significantly shortened their punishment.

A tear trickled down her cheek, she felt that she had made the right choice in serving this kind and generous master. She even felt an urge to find His Highness now and serve him with devotion.

"After living in Mariejois these days and asking the maids, you must be aware of the actions of the other Celestial Dragons and that Highness's kindness is very great. I only hope that you will understand that in your heart and serve His Highness faithfully." Stussy concluded, observing Saya closely.

Saya nodded in agreement. In her heart, she believed His Highness was kind, considerate, merciful, and gracious. As long as one didn't become his enemy or attack him like that idiot Takashi, they would only see his good side. She truly believed that.

"Here, you can take it."

Saya carefully took the feather, holding it delicately. "Thank you, Miss Stussy."

"You don't need to thank me; thank His Highness. Now go to your parents—their ship hasn't left yet—and give it to them."

Realizing her parents were waiting, Saya nodded gratefully. "Don't worry, I'll thank His Highness. I'll leave now," she said before hastily departing, worried the ship might leave without her.

Stussy smiled as she watched Saya leave, thinking, Everything is going according to plan. Although her parents would only spend a month in Impel Down, it gonna feel like hell to them. At the same time, it would strengthen Saya's loyalty and gratitude toward His Highness. But that wasn't the main goal.

She pulled out her Den Den Mushi and called one of her acquaintances who is a member of the CP5

After a moment, a deep voice came through.

"Miss Stussy."

"Gylgo, the girl is heading to the ship. You know what to do. After a month, I want that woman in His Highness's bed."

That woman's insult to His Highness touched her red line, she decided to send her to his bed, then any resentment or anger remaining inside Kaos' chest would be emptied with his load inside her womb.

As Kaos' favorite maid and right hand, it was her duty to ensure his physical and emotional satisfaction. From her extensive experience managing the pleasure district, she knows what a man likes and the best way to vent his anger and resentment.

"Understood," came the response.

"Good. I trust your abilities. Keep me updated," she said before cutting the call. Resting her chin on her fingers, she thought, I hope my gift will please His Highness. After all, that woman has quite an alluring figure.

She smiled cheerfully and then left the place. and at the same time

There was a ship docked in the harbor.

Nearby, people were loading barrels and various supplies onto the vessel—items the ship would need for its upcoming voyage.

On the pier stood Saya Takagi's parents, Souichiro and Yuriko Takagi, along with a group of men dressed in black.

They waited quietly under the scorching sun. They thought this was some kind of punishment and endured it silently, but unknown to them, it was planned so that they could meet their daughter easily.

"Dad! Mom!"

Saya's voice, calling out as she ran toward them, caught Souichiro and Yuriko's attention.

"Saya!"

"It's you! What are you doing here?"

When the two turned and confirmed it was indeed their daughter, they approached her without interference from the guards.

Saya smiled joyfully, panting. "I have good news!"

After catching her breath and adjusting her glasses, she added, "His Highness has reduced your punishment. Instead of a year, it will now only be a month."

Souichiro and Yuriko were surprised but quickly became overjoyed.

Yuriko spoke, "Although I don't know what we'll face, as long as it's just a month, we should be able to endure it, right?" She glanced at her husband at the end of her statement.

"I hope so," Souichiro replied. While he wasn't overly optimistic, he also wasn't entirely pessimistic.

He looked at his daughter, noticing her servant attire. While the sight didn't please him, he chose not to comment. "Well done. It seems you managed to persuade him."

"Ah, not really. He decided to lessen your punishment on his own." Saya's tone carried great respect as she mentioned His Highness.

Souichiro's eyes narrowed. The impression that Kaos gave him was far from that of a good person. Seeing his daughter's tone filled with such reverence, it became very clear in his mind. It was unfortunate that his daughter was still a bit naive to understand such subtle manipulations.

He did not mention the matter frankly and said, "This means that he likes you." In his view, as long as Kaos was willing to reduce their punishment in this way, it showed that he cared about his daughter's feelings, which was comforting to him.

"What?! What are you saying?" Saya stammered, blushing deeply.

Yuriko covered her mouth and laughed. "It seems that's the case. If so, then I feel relieved about your safety." At the end of her speech, she gently patted her shy daughter's hair.

"What are you two talking about? I'm just his servant. There's no need to worry about my safety," Saya protested, stopping her mother from patting her head. However, she thought to herself, blushing even more, Could he really like me? Or is he just being kind?

Quickly suppressing her embarrassment and those thoughts, Saya remembered that she hadn't shared the second piece of news yet.

Smiling, she revealed a white feather she held carefully, as if afraid it might get damaged.

"This feather is from His Highness's wing. It has a power that can protect you if you encounter any danger."

When her parents showed surprised expressions, she puffed out her chest proudly.

"Is it for us?" Yuriko couldn't help but ask skeptically. Was His Highness truly this kind, or did he harbor feelings for her daughter?

"Of course, it's for you both."

Neither Souichiro nor Yuriko doubted their daughter's words. To them, Kaos's abilities were akin to those of a deity. Yuriko displayed a delighted smile, while Souichiro smiled faintly, which still revealed his good mood.

"Take it and keep it safe," Saya urged, handing the feather to her father, believing he would keep it secure and protect her mother.

However, when Souichiro tried to reach for the feather, his hand suddenly froze, and his eyes went dim for a brief moment—a fleeting detail that neither woman noticed.

He took the feather, examined it, then frowned. "This is an ordinary bird's feather. I'm familiar with hunting and can identify the species it belongs to. Saya, you've been deceived."

Saya, still brimming with joy, was shocked by her father's words. She quickly shook her head. "No, I'm sure he didn't deceive me! How can you be so certain it's just a regular bird's feather? Father, we can't judge things in this world so easily. What if they just look similar?" She couldn't understand why her father would say such things and even felt slightly annoyed at his doubt toward His Highness.

Yuriko also didn't understand her husband's stance. Like Saya, she didn't believe they were qualified to assess such matters, especially when there were magical things like Devil Fruits in this world.

"Dear, we paid the price for not listening to Saya the first time. Let's not repeat our mistakes again."

Sarcasm appeared in his expression. "Our mistakes. Please don't involve me in your mistakes. I wasn't the one who insulted His Highness." He shook his head and stopped looking at his wife.

Suddenly, his eyes became dull for a split second, then he returned to his normal state. The words he said came back to him, and he didn't understand why he said those things.

"Dad," Saya shouted.

Saya couldn't believe what she heard. She couldn't believe that her father would say something like that. Even Yuriko was very surprised, and a sad expression appeared on her face.

Before Saya could say anything more, Yuriko placed a hand on her shoulder. "Saya, forgive your father. He's just having a hard time because of me. Everything will be fine after a while." She tried to smile to reassure her daughter, but her eyes betrayed the sorrow she felt.

Saya swallowed her words reluctantly and nodded. She looked at her parents with hesitation and sadness. She didn't want to part from them like this, especially under these circumstances. She could only hope her mother's words were true and that her father's mood would improve.

"Please, keep it with you." Since her father doubted the feather's authenticity, she gave it to her mother.

Yuriko nodded with a smile that concealed her sadness and took the feather. "Don't worry. I'll take good care of it."

Seeing his wife's sorrow, Souichiro felt regret. He didn't understand why he'd said those things. They had seemed like the right words to say at the time, but they didn't align with his thoughts or feelings.

He resolved to try comforting her and addressing the issue later.

Suddenly, one of the guards watching Saya's parents spoke. "The ship is leaving now. Get on."

Saya looked at her parents. Though she didn't want to part from them yet, she knew nothing could be done. She hugged them, said her goodbyes, and watched as they boarded the ship.

By chance, her gaze fell upon three individuals—a woman and two men—standing on the ship's deck, their appearance peculiar.

She assumed they were merely escorts for the ship's protection and didn't pay them much mind.

Once the ship disappeared from view, Saya left the area and returned to the castle.
