In 2050 scientist observed a change in the Higgs field seconds before every human being collectively felt a shiver run down their spinal cord. Shortly afterwards an extraterrestrial being showed before their inner eyes he danced and then it turned dark. Everyone, be they sleeping or working, on earth or not, wearing glasses or even the blind ones saw the same thing: Two black spheres in this void, black holes spinning rapidly and then, they clashed. They returned to nothingness only to explode in a wave of energy. This energy expanded, hit the Higgs field and traveled to earth. All live was eradicated, everything that was build was obliterated, all was returned to nothingness. Not even light was left. But right after hitting the earth the time stopped. A crack in the void appeared and a figure walked through. He snapped his finger and all matter that was destroyed came back.
This is the intro scene of humanity's second chance. After this everyone got a unique skill and the ability to level up. Through new discoveries in the new matter "Mana" created by the change in the Higgs field, humanity learned to travel through space and the new job Hunter was born.
Our story begins with a boy who was born 2110, after the "new beginning". All humans are scanned for their unique skill at the age of 4. The government can take extra custody for people with special skills. But Kathrine couldn't afford this. She had severe depth and so she sold her baby at the black market. She hadn't a lot of thought about the child, it was an unwanted child after she sold her body. She could barely live by herself and so she wished a better life for this child, even if she couldn't look at it.
Frank who bought this child is a slave hunter. He ruins peoples life until they fall in depth and afterwards take them in as hunters. He often buys of childs with certain skills to mark them with his obedience skill and let them work the administrative work. But when he saw the skill on this baby he had a different thought. With an immortal body, you could donate enough blood to prolong the live of his hunters.
Since the appearance of Mana, people with blood type 0 were affected with a strange change. In the black market they were referred to as golden goods or jackpots. This is because their entire body now didn't show any signs of rejection to other people's cells, making perfect organtranplants possible.
Because most humans don't have skills fit for combat, most skills are used for medical care and research. Humans could advance several leaps with just the existence of a few skills known. But they never touched one thing: researching where the skills lie in the body. But Frank wanted to always know. He had torn apart multiple people already and now he had a body he could tear apart as much as he wanted, getting to every corner, breaking every bone and looking at each brain cell. All the blood and other parts he didn't damage at that time he would sell.
The boy grew to the age of 10 in a dark room. He did not know what time is, how to speak and even thinking was painful for him. Because the only thing he knew, he could think of is the horror of light coming into his room. That thing walking up to him and splitting his head open. Cutting his body open. Ripping his bones out. And now the door opened again.
Veronica is an 93 years old police officer. Since the appearance of hunters the law has changed dramatically. While hunters are the front runners, fighting against criminal organizations and protecting citizens from monsters, the police are doing the clean up work. In her olden days she was a vigilant hero who was promoted into a high position in the police. She fought as one of the first "knower" of skills but was the first one to not commit any crimes. But today a major fraud and human trafficking organization branch was destroyed and she only did the clean up. When she opened the last room with a golden door a sweet and slightly metallic odor of death hit her nose. The entire room was painted in a dark red tone, barely visible in the darkness. The room had no access to any sort of lighting and was quite small compared to the other rooms. She looked around with her flash light around the room and behind the door, in the corner was a small naked boy. He was well nourished and showed no signs of physical abuse. This was very different compared to all other captives here. When she approached him, he showed no reaction, not even looking at her. The only signs he showed were fear.
Mark already lived for 1 year with Veronica. He learned what humans are, how to eat, how to speak, how to walk and even how to live with light. And now he is supposed to go to school. But opposed to going to a special school, Veronica signed him up for a normal school. This is because Mark has an abnormal learning speed. This is because while his body always regrew to perfect condition and his brain couldn't have any damage, his souls didn't. Each time he was killed by Frank he was pulled out of the eternal rest and back to life. This constant extreme situation gave birth to multiple unique skills, one of them being hyper mind. The first time he was killed and brought back to life, he should have developed a multi-personality-disorder. However as his body was brought back to perfect condition, all personalities merged with each death, creating the singularity-like skill hyper mind.
