The library was as serene as ever, the only sound the soft rustle of pages and the occasional creak of a chair. I moved quietly through the aisles, my eyes scanning for a familiar figure. Victor had returned to his usual corner, and sure enough, there he was, surrounded by stacks of books, completely absorbed in his reading.
I tiptoed closer, careful not to make a sound. He was so focused, his eyes darting back and forth across the page, that he didn't even notice me until I leaned over his shoulder, whispering, "Hey there, handsome."
Victor jumped, nearly dropping the book in his hand. "Lyra!" he exclaimed, turning to face me with a startled expression. I couldn't help but laugh at his reaction, his eyes wide with surprise.
"Gotcha!" I said, grinning. "You should've seen your face."
Victor sighed, setting his book down and giving me a mock glare. "You really love sneaking up on me, don't you?"
