The room was dim, the only source of light coming from the wide screen at the front of the home theater. Elion and Raelynn sat beside each other on the plush leather seats, separated by only the faintest sliver of space. The room was silent except for the hum of the projector and the faint rustle of Raelynn shifting in her seat.
The movie started with its opening credits rolling against a starry backdrop, but neither Elion nor Raelynn dared to glance at one another. Elion leaned slightly to the side, his elbow resting on the armrest, his fingers tapping lightly against the polished surface. His profile was sharp in the faint glow from the screen, and Raelynn found herself stealing quick glances at him before quickly looking back at the screen, pretending to be engrossed.
Finally, Elion broke the silence. "Are you… okay?" His voice was low, soft, but carried the unmistakable weight of concern.
