Raelynn woke up feeling like something was wrong. Her head throbbed, her stomach churned, and the faint memory of the strange, gnawing hunger she'd felt the night before lingered in her mind. She groaned and rolled over, pulling the blankets over her head, but the discomfort wouldn't go away.
She tried to push herself upright but instantly regretted it. The moment she moved, a wave of nausea hit her hard, and she had no choice but to stumble toward the bathroom. Her body seemed to betray her at every turn, and she barely made it to the toilet before she was throwing up, her stomach emptying with an unsettling intensity.
