Elion stood by the towering glass window at the edge of the ballroom, his drink untouched in his hand. His gaze swept over the crowd, the laughter and clinking glasses blending into a blur of background noise. Something was off. It had been too long since Raelynn excused herself to use the restroom. His unease grew with every passing second.
"She's taking a while, isn't she?" Kade's voice broke through his thoughts.
Elion turned slightly, his expression hard. "Yes. It's not like her to get lost or wander off."
"Want me to go look for her?" Kade offered with a casual smile, though there was a flicker of concern in his tone.
Elion shook his head firmly. "No. Stay here. I'll go."
Kade's grin widened knowingly. "Yeah, of course, you will."
Elion ignored him, setting his glass on a nearby table before heading straight toward the exit. The guests naturally made way for Elion as he walked, his imposing aura impossible to ignore.
