Chapter 5 - I kissed him back

 Leo's POV

How funny this all was.

He was the one who had started it, with his confusing words and actions, and now he wanted to end it all. But I couldn't let that happen. Not like this.

I ran after him, my heart pounding in my chest. "Miles!" I called out, grabbing his arm and spinning him around to face me. The moment our eyes met, I felt a surge of adrenaline, and before I could even process what I was doing, I leaned forward and kissed him.

His eyes went wide in shock, and I wasn't any less stunned by what I'd just done. My mind screamed at me, but it was too late. The kiss had already happened.

I quickly stepped back, wiping my mouth with the back of my hand, mimicking the way he had done it to me before. "Sorry," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "Now it's a real ending."

His expression was priceless—pure shock, like he couldn't believe what had just happened. His lips parted, but no words came out at first.

Finally, in a low, confused voice, he asked, "What… what was all this supposed to mean?"

I smiled a little, my heart still racing. "The same thing it meant when you did it to me the other day. Just a prank."

The confusion on his face slowly melted away, replaced by a small, amused smile. He stepped closer, wrapping his arms around my waist, pulling me toward him. And then, he kissed me again. This time, the kiss wasn't out of shock or revenge. It was soft, lingering, like he had been waiting for this moment all along.

When he pulled away, he looked into my eyes and said, "I've always liked you, Leo. But I was scared you'd reject me, so I lied and said it was a prank."

For a second, I wondered if this was another one of his jokes. But there was something in the way he looked at me, something so sincere that I almost felt embarrassed for doubting him. "Are you being serious this time?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

He nodded earnestly. "I've liked you for a long time. I just never really thought about it until we started drifting apart. That's when I realized… how much I actually care for you."

Hearing that, I couldn't help but smile. And then, all of a sudden, I started laughing. It wasn't because I found it funny, but because it was cute—the way he was fumbling over his words, trying to explain himself, his usual cool exterior completely gone.

"Are you laughing at me?" he asked, a mock frown on his face.

I quickly shook my head. "No, no! It's just… you look cute when you say things like that. It made me feel… shy."

He lifted my chin gently, forcing me to meet his gaze. His eyes softened, and in a low voice, he asked, "Are you really shy?"

I nodded, feeling the heat rush to my cheeks. Before I knew it, I gave him a quick, tight hug, burying my face in his chest to hide how red I must have been. I could feel his heart beating fast against mine, and when I pulled away, I saw his cheeks were just as flushed as mine.

Suddenly, without warning, he grabbed my hand and started running, pulling me along with him. "Miles! What are you doing?" I laughed, trying to keep up with him.

He didn't answer, just kept running, weaving through the streets like he was on some urgent mission. Finally, between breaths, he said, "I'm going to punish you."

"Punish me?" I gasped, half-laughing, half-wondering if he was serious. "For what?"

He glanced back at me with a mischievous grin. "For making me blush like that."

Before I could protest, he pulled me even faster, leading us toward his house.

The end.
