Lem was astounded by the greed of his simulated self, but he immediately understood his thinking.
As long as he was going to go closer to the harvest tree and take the risk of retrieving the [Mountain Sitting Technique], he might as well also grab everything on the periphery that seemed like it could be of use!
Lem may have disagreed with the actions of his simulated self, but he applauded the boldness. As long as his simulated self did not die, just the spiritual crystals alone would be reward enough for his efforts.
Lem's simulated self retrieved a couple of containers filled with beast parts and a few more pouches stuffed with spiritual crystals.
Lem watched carefully, monitoring his body's senses, but no attack came.
It seemed that around his simulated self, the harvest tree was perfectly docile!
How would Master Brightflame feel if he saw this?
Lem's simulated self turned around and began a fourth trip. Then, a fifth trip.
Soon, he had a substantial pile of pouches, containers, and loose items on the forest fringe, and he finally decided to go for the jade slip of the [Mountain Sitting Technique].
It was closer to the harvest tree than anything else he had retrieved, giving him a spike in nervousness.
As he walked, his eyes were trained on the harvest tree.
If it attacked him, it could move faster than his eyes could track, but it still felt reassuring to keep it within his sight.
Lem's simulated self got closer and closer.
When he reached the scraps of his bag, he bent down and picked up the jade slip, ignoring the pain in his hand. Without hesitating, he grabbed a couple of burned water skins, and a nearby pouch. He slipped the jade slip inside of the pouch, and tucked the water skins under his arm.
There were a few spiritual crystals on the ground within easy reach.
Lem could feel a slight hesitation in his simulated self, before he began retrieving the crystals, one by one, and putting them in the pouch with the jade slip.
After he was done, he cast a quick glance at the harvest tree.
It was serene as ever.
Lem's simulated self turned around and began walking back towards his substantial pile.
No attack.
No attack.
Safe!
[You continue to retrieve the martial elder's possessions, prioritizing the spiritual crystals, before finally retrieving the jade slip of the [Mountain Sitting Technique].
You decide to stop, not wanting to press your luck any further.]
Lem was relieved when he saw that his simulated self did not plan on retrieving any more of the fallen items. It was clear that his greed had its bounds!
His simulated self was likely worried about making too many trips and annoying the harvest tree.
Lem could feel an overwhelming gratitude surge up in the chest of his simulated self.
The harvest tree had really treated him too well.
Not only had it taken care of Master Brightflame for him, but it had even allowed him to retrieve the spoils!
