Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Arrival & Awakening

This young man is in bad shape, there is only so much I can do. He needs help from a different kind of Peculiar. He needs to be brought to an Ymbryne, to Miss Peregrine, as she is the closest.

Abraham knew that he shouldn't interact with any of the Peculiar Children at the children's home as it would be strange for them to see him as an old man and he couldn't bear to put Emma through any sort of pain again. So he decided to go to Cairnholm Wales, where Miss Peregrine's Loop was and leave the boy in the cave, just inside the Loop with a letter explaining the situation and he will call Miss Peregrine to tell her where he is.

...

(Few Hours Later inside Miss Peregrine's Loop)

"That Abraham, giving me work like this." Miss Peregrine said as she walked into the cave.

When she actually saw the boy battered and broken, she got to work immediately. She brought him out of the cave and exited the Loop with him, she did this only so after she healed him, if he ever exited the Loop again, he wouldn't revert to his previously injured state.

She was an Ymbryne and her Peculiarity involved the control of time and according to Abraham, he was only injured some hours ago. She used her Peculiarity to reverse the time on his body and she saw all his Wounds being reversed and saw just how bad he was actually injured.

She had focused on the worst injuries first. She saw the burns slowly disappearing and then the scratches and broken bones, but when she got to trying to reverse his destroyed arm, she ran into an issue. Evidently she could only restore a portion of his arm. But from his elbow down, she couldn't restore it. Seeing the cause of the injury, she had a theory.

Due to his arm being shattered with ice. The pieces of his arm have long melted into liquid back wherever the boy was injured and she is unable to recover those lost pieces. If she had the pieces on hand, she would be able to restore it all.

She brought a First Aid and Sewing kit with her if she had to stitch him up. She added stitches to his arm and closed the wound after stopping the bleeding. She then bandaged his arm and made sure to keep a tourniquet to make sure the blood wouldn't leak until she could get Olivia to cauterize his wound.

She is sure the boy will be disappointed, but at least he didn't die. She brought the boy back to the house and all the children were curious as to who the boy was and what had happened to him as he was missing most of his arm. Miss Peregrine did not answer any of their questions nor entertain their curious gazes, she simply told them to let him rest and to inform him when he awoke.

...

(One week later)

I had been drifting in an out of consciousness the last few days. This was due to a few factors, my body was healing from being injured, my Peculiarity had been overused and left me weakened, and it was especially due to activating my third Peculiarity.

I don't know exactly how much time has passed and I don't feel all the injuries I had before, but I do know that I can't feel my right hand. Sure enough, I looked down and saw the bandaged stump of my arm. I got up and grabbed a cloth that I used to make a makeshift blindfold before tightly securing it around my head.

I then paused as I looked around, my current surroundings seemed vaguely familiar to me and my best guess was that I was at Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

Afterall, it was the closest safe Loop that Abraham could have brought me to. Knowing an Ymbryne's Peculiarity was related to the control of time, I could only assume that Miss Peregrine had reversed time on my body to heal my injuries. I had a rough idea as to why she couldn't fully heal my arm, but I would have to make do with only one arm until I am able to figure out a way to compensate for my missing limb.

'Maybe I could utilize my Space Peculiarity somehow? Like create a temporary limb or something?' I pondered.

My musing was interrupted by someone entering my room.

"Oh, you're awake?!?" A girls voice spoke out.

I turned to the voice and saw Olivia had entered.

"Hello, can you tell me what happened, and where I am?" I asked.

"Where you are is Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, as for what happened, that I do not know. I was told that I was to inform Miss Peregrine once you had woken up. If you would like, I can bring you to her." Olivia explained.

"Okay, that'd be great, I will follow you to this Miss Peregrine as you called her?" I asked my latter words intoned as a question as to the name of Miss Peregrine.

Olivia nodded and then helped me up and helped me put on my shirt. She then gestured for me to follow her to Miss Peregrine.

We walked through the home and I received a lot of curious gazes from the different children we passed and I even felt as if someone was glaring at me. Sure enough, I turned around and saw Enoch staring daggers at me, most likely due to me being so close with Olivia. He didn't have to worry, I had no interest in Olivia. Or even Emma as I wouldn't do that to my Lil bro.

I may not have met him, but he is still my little brother and I am sure he doesn't even know that I exist, as I doubt his parents would tell him about me, most likely keeping me a secret to hide their shame.

We finally exited the home and I saw Miss Peregrine outside talking to Fiona before she quickly went to the garden and was growing what I assumed to be a giant carrot like in the movie.

'Huh, was she late again? Maybe it happens every so often.' I pondered as I thought that might be what Miss Peregrine was talking to her about.

"Miss Peregrine, you told me to Inform you when he woke up, I brought him to meet with you as he had questions." Olivia explained as she gestured to me.

"Very good, thank you Olivia, you may go." Miss Peregrine said as Olivia nodded and walked off.

"So, you are the newest edition to our little home. How do you feel?" Miss Peregrine turned to me and asked.

"I feel alright. I suppose I have you to thank for healing me? I also understand the most likely reason as to why you couldn't fully heal my arm, so don't worry about it." I replied.

"How did you know I healed you?" Miss Peregrine asked curiously.

"Well, while I may not know much, I do know what an Ymbryne is. I know an Ymbryne's Peculiarity has to do with the control of time. And since I have never heard of any Peculiarity that could heal people, you were the only one who may have been able to heal my extensive injuries to the point that there aren't even any scars." I explained.

"Quite astute observational skills young man." She replied.

"I do alright." I replied.

"Now, I understand you have some questions?" Miss Peregrine asked.

"Yes. First of all, do you know what happened to the man who saved me?" I asked.

"You mean Abraham, he dropped you off here, but had to leave." She explained.

"I see. I wish I was able to thank him for his help. I am pretty sure I would've been dead if he hadn't gotten me to you so quick." I said.

"I am sure he knows how grateful you are. So, as you are new here, I can give you a brief tour as you explain to me what your Peculiarity is, and why you cover your eyes." Miss Peregrine said.

"Well my Peculiarity is sort of strange, I can control space." I replied.

"Hmmm. In what way?" Miss Peregrine asked.

I then explained to her all that I could do with my ability and she seemed very interested in it.

"That is certainly a powerful Peculiarity. I can see you becoming someone very strong in the future. Now, about your eyes, are you blind?" She asked.

"Oh, no. I have just had bad reactions from those who have seen my eyes so I have a habit of keeping them covered." I explained.

"You don't have to worry about anything like that here." She said with a smile.

I nodded and then took off the blindfold and blinked a few time to get used to the brightness of the sun.

"I must say, you have truly wonderful eyes. They really exhibit what your Peculiarity is." Miss Peregrine commented.

"Thank you, I appreciate the sentiment." I replied with a smile.

"Alright, let's begin the tour shall we?" Miss Peregrine said as she gestured behind her at the garden.

"Lead the way." I replied as we turned and she began to explain different things outside and introduced me to some of the children who were playing outside.
