Snapping out from his thoughts.
Doctor Sue replied with a blank big O.
He brushed the strands of his hair out of his face with a cheeky grin, he pointed at the checking point of the town. A huge wall built encompassing the town made it dominating.
A big wow escaped Lizs' lips her thoughts like an open book. A myriad of emotions enveloped her, mainly relief then awe but not because it's her first. Rather, it was because our poor Liz had never stepped out of the capital city ever since she was crowned the soon princess consort. It was so long ago that Lisette forgot the feeling of the outside world.
With a lift of her feet , Liz bounced forgoing all mannerisms as if she had been keeping her etiquette all these while.
Doctor Sue shook his head in a shrug lamenting in the idea that he was an old father taking his kid on her first trip to town.
He followed lisette who was already on the other side of the hill in worry.
He looked at the town that looked small from afar and mused to himself. Hopefully, I could finally relax. Excercising his shoulders a bit, Doctor Sue stretched and series of cracking was heard from his bones.
He groaned, his tired eyes glancing at Liz who's already on the paved paths of the towns main road.
...
The majestic walls stood tall a wafting smell of its long service filled the air and the long lines of carriages or people didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the travelling merchants.
The guards shouted with stern eyes trying to keep order in the line.
But, with only twice a dozen of hands and hundreds waiting , you could imagine bags hanging beneath their eyes in 50 shades of coffee.
A single break akin to a death sentence.
You can picture the rest yourself, the crime scene for the rest.
Every single worker there furiously wrote papers after papers, while the guards came in and out of carriages and wagons.
Under the bright sun it was finally Lizs' turn.
"Hello!", a little hand waved from beneath the checking point. Confused, the female clerk peered out of the stone window.
There she saw Liz, while Doctor Sue was still being checked by the guards for suspicious items.
"Hello child", the clerk smiled warmly.
It was not unusual that children were brought along by their parents to broaden their horizons just not an age this young. The clerk thought a lot as she blinked her at Liz whom because of trying to stay fit too much. Looked more malnourished than her peers, looking 6 yrs younger than her age.
Lizette smiled back warmly at the nice sister feeling strange under her gaze in her heart.
Her eyes wandering around caught the bustling market of the main street in the further end.
Noticing her strangeness, the amused clerk decided to tease her.
" Your first time around, kid." She remarked snickering in her head as she watched Lisette turned beet red.
Her eyes apprehensively staring at the clerks' twitching grin. The clerk cooed at Liz, trying to appease her, She decided to tell Liz something interesting to look forward to in her stay.
" Well, your in luck!", The jolly lady winked,"today is our annual winter celebration. We party, every time the first snow covers the land, it's a party for a week and we do it so that days before winter is a bit bearable, not to mention fall season".
She shared pointing at the fallen maple leaves that covered the land and barren branches that hung in the trees.
Looking at Liz, who gawked at the parade that passed by, amused she commented.
"You don't have to gawking at it, just come tomorrow at 8 in the morning, that parade usually signifies the end or beginning sme part of the festiva".
The lady grinned as she patted her pockets for candy and found one.
She took it to Liz, who took it awkwardly, not because she thought she was too old for sweets but because she never ate it openly.
Her eyes instinctively looked around absentmindedly, as if doing so would appease her unease. But, when her round doe eyes, black like a marbles searched around, it became something else for the clerk
It strung an arrow straight to her heart, she squeeled in her head, hands cupping her cheeks jumping threefold high.
" Don't worry, no one's gonna come take it or you away", with a cheeky grin plastered on her face, something completely different from the acrobatics going on in her head. The clerk looked at the vigilant little cat infront of her sighing how nice it is to have a child.
She had been married for years now and couldn't give birth. She was now 25, middle aged. Her old parents had been fussing about doctors left and right and her parents-in-law?
They have been giving her the stink eye left and right. As for that man..., haah. The woman sighed
Just then, Doctor Sue came over with the sack draped over his shoulders. He was about to speak when his brows knitted in self-reproach, he should've walked Liz on stranger danger.
He stood there before continuing. Hands on his hips and a serious look on his face eyeing the candy in her hands.
In a worried tone of a brother, Doctor Sue curiosly asked " Where'd you get the candy?"
In a casual way, Liz pointed at the stone window where the clerk peered out.
"Hello, Are you her guardian?"
