"Romano?" I mumbled, patting the bed. I was hoping Romano would be back today.
It's been 2 weeks since he left home without a word. After I recovered, he disappeared.
A knock on the door made me jolt up, bringing the bedsheet up to my chest. "Who's that?" I asked cautiously.
"Maryann?"
"Oh my goodness!" Smiling, I quickly tossed the sheet aside, running to open the door. I pulled her inside closing the door behind her. "Where have you been?"
"I thought you didn't notice" She chuckled. I couldn't help but notice the dark circles around her eyes. Something wasn't right.
I've been such a bad friend.
Ignoring her pleas to allow her leave the room before Romano comes back, I pulled her to the bed. "He'll have to go through me before I let him throw you out. Besides, he's been gone for weeks" A hint of sadness was evident in my voice as I said the last sentence.
I was worried about him and mad that he didn't tell me anything.
