Chapter 75 - Chapter 75 - Family

"What are you doing here?" I eyed Madelyn up and down.

"I... I came with food" She smiled showing me the plate of food.

Rolling my eyes, I walked past her. "Dimitri!" I yelled.

"Romano, can you just let me talk to you?" She followed me to the kitchen.

"Did you or anyone tell this lady that I lacked a chef?" I asked Dimitri who had a confused look plastered on his face

"No, Boss!" He shook his head. "Should I throw her out?"

I sighed, shaking my head. Maybe it's time to actually listen to her. "Leave"

"Thank you for the opportunity" She sighed out loudly, placing the food on the counter before going to the cupboards.

She still remembered her way around here.

"What are you doing?" I frowned at her. She stopped ransacking the cupboard, slowly turning to face me.

She gave me that doe eyes that used to make my knee go weak back in the days. It didn't work on me this time. Instead, I got more mad at her for thinking she could use it again on me.

"I won't eat" I said again. Rolyn barked at my feet making me pick him up. We've been close ever since Jadelyn left. There were nights where it'll lay on her spot snuggling into her pillow.

I know it misses Jadelyn so much.

"I thought you hated puppies" Madelyn blinked at Rolyn and I.

I used to. I hated any animal. However, that changed when I saw the way Jadelyn looked at Rolyn and how Rolyn looked at Jadelyn back.

"People change, Madelyn" I groaned, pouring dog food into Rolyn's plates.

"Did Jadelyn force you into this. I know she likes puppy. She stole one when we were younger." Madelyn chuckled.

"She's not a thief. I'm sure that's not the real story." I glared at her. She shifted uncomfortably, her laugh dying down.

"Right, then" She smiled. It wasn't genuine and it was very obvious. "Can we sit?"

I wanted to scream No but then I remembered I had 5 days to wife her. "We need to talk, indeed"

I patted Rolyn before leaving him there to eat it's food. "About Six years ago.." Madelyn started.

I was fighting between wanting to hear and not wanting to hear her side of the story.

"I'll do the question asking. I don't want that pity story you've prepared in your head." I sighed, relaxing into the chair.

Jadelyn's strand of hair was not on the couch like it used to be. Her scents were no longer lingering around the air again. Everything had begun to fade. There were no longer traces of her.

"Okay then" Madelyn's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I had zoned out again.

Fuck.

"Why?" I asked calmly, my eyes trained on her. Now that I was staring at her, she looked so different from the girl I fell in love with years back.

"I.. I was scared initially when I found out I was pregnant." She said softly.

"You said you didn't know you were pregnant until later" I eyed her suspiciously.

"I.. I... I had hunch but I wasn't sure. I had missed my period and was scared and so I ran. Also, I was being threatened to leave. The number kept calling and threatening me that if I didn't leave, they'd kill you and me" Her eyes were now glistened with tears as she spoke

I clenched my fist as I stared into her eyes. "Who threatened you? Why didn't you come to me?"

"I didn't want you to act irrational and get yourself killed!" She yelled

"You still killed me either way. Have you thought about that?" I yelled back, eyeing her with pure disdain.

Her cry increased, making me groan out in frustration. "Don't fucking cry. You know I hate it when you cry"

She still didn't stop and so I grudgingly moved to her seat, pulling her into my arms. "I am going to marry you."

At that point, her cries died down. She pulled away from me, looking at me. "You will?"

Sighing, I nodded. "I mean, you have my child and I need a family so yeah"

"Zion would be so happy" She hugged me.

"Don't expect me to love you like before though" I patted her back gently.

"I don't care. As long as you're with me" She nodded.

Right.

Her phone rang, making her jolt up. Her body tensed when the person spoke, making me alert. Is it the threat guy? I really needed to look into that.

"It's Zion" She gasped, placing her phone on her chest. "He's hurt"

Oh no!

"Where's he?" Quickly, I grabbed my keys from the table and dashed out with she following me.

"At home" She jumped into the car.

I didn't say anything else as I drove with speed. I wasn't about to lose another person in my life. Not anymore.

"He'll be fine" I placed my hand on her shaky hands.

"Oh Zion!" She opened the door so fast, I almost thought it'll fall off. She ran to pick him from the nanny. "You couldn't look after a child?!"

"Let's go!" I yelled. He was bleeding on his forehead.

"Go! Now!" Clutching Zion into her body, she yelled. He moved uncomfortably on her body.

What was his problem with her?

"Stay still" She hissed at him, making him cold as ice.

"He's a child. Stop yelling at him" I groaned, trying to drive fast without killing them.

After we got to the hospital, we ran to the doctor. After I was sure he was being looked after, I left the room.

"Where are you going?" Madelyn called out to me.

"I need to get water for him" I said, still moving . "Go, be with your son"

When I didn't hear her voice again, I assumed she had gone back. I didn't bother to turn to check either.

I sat down at the chair. I was contemplating if I should go see the doctor concerning Jadelyn's corpse. Was I ready for that?

"Are you sure you don't want to stay for more check up?" Two girls stood opposite me. I could only see the back of the one who was standing by the door. I guess another one was inside.

"I'm okay, Ann" The other girl growled, pushing the so called Ann out of the door. I could only see her hand.

Just as I was about to turn away, the other girl's face came in view. I stood up immediately blinking at her.

"Seriously, you act like a mother and it -" When her eyes met mine, her eyes shone in shock but then it didn't last for long as she just stared indifferently at me

"You.. you..." I pointed, unable to put my words together.

"Romano?"
