Chapter 1 - A new beginning

The first rays of dawn crept through the gap in the curtains, gently brushing against Alex's cheek. He slowly opened his eyes, stretched, and quickly sat up. Today was a special day – Alex had officially become a newcomer to the workforce. Although he felt both excited and nervous, his heart was filled with more anticipation for the future.

Alex had grown up in an orphanage, where life was not easy, but he learned to be independent and strong. Life in the orphanage taught him how to confront difficulties and made him more mature and composed than his peers. Despite this, deep down, Alex yearned for the warmth of a family and the companionship of loved ones. In the quiet of the night, he would often imagine himself in a loving family, surrounded by warm lights, delicious meals, and endless care.

After getting up, Alex quickly finished his morning routine and began to prepare breakfast. His kitchen was stocked with only a few simple ingredients, but Alex always managed to whip up a delicious meal with what he had. Today, he decided to make scrambled eggs and toast, accompanied by a cup of hot milk. Simple as it was, this was his most cherished moment of the day.

"A new day, a new beginning," Alex murmured to himself with a faint smile on his lips. He donned his neatly pressed professional attire, grabbed his handbag, and prepared to step out. As he exited the apartment building, the morning air was exceptionally fresh. Alex inhaled deeply, savoring the tranquility and beauty of the moment.

He walked to the nearest subway station and boarded a car during the morning rush hour. The carriage was bustling with chatter, and everyone seemed to be in a hurry. Alex found a corner to stand in and pulled out his phone to check his schedule for the day. He was about to join a renowned advertising agency as an assistant. Although the position was not high-ranking, Alex knew it was a great starting point, and he was determined to make his mark in the industry.

Upon arriving at the company, Alex was led to his workstation. His desk was located in an open office area surrounded by a group of young and energetic colleagues. Alex greeted everyone politely and then sat down to organize his belongings. A computer and some office supplies were already set up on his desk, everything appeared to be in perfect order.

"Hello, I'm Alex. It's great to be part of the team," Alex said with a smile to the colleague next to him. Her name was Lily, a girl who exuded warmth and cheerfulness. Lily responded enthusiastically, "Welcome aboard! Don't hesitate to ask if you need any help."

Alex nodded and began his first day on the job. His tasks mainly involved assisting the team with various projects, including market research, copywriting, and client communication. Despite the complexity of the work, Alex took every detail seriously. His diligence quickly earned the approval of his supervisor, who praised him for being meticulous and efficient.

During lunch break, Alex and Lily went to the company's staff cafeteria. The cafeteria offered a variety of meals, but Alex, in an effort to save money, chose the most affordable set meal. Seeing this, Lily chuckled, "Alex, you're too frugal. You should treat yourself once in a while."

Alex smiled back and replied, "It's a habit, but I really appreciate your concern." After lunch, Alex continued with his work. The afternoon flew by, and before he knew it, it was time to clock out. Alex packed up his things, ready to leave the office. Lily approached him with a suggestion to grab a coffee for some relaxation. After a moment's hesitation, Alex agreed. They went to a nearby café and found a quiet corner to sit in.

"How are you feeling today?" Lily inquired.

Alex pondered for a moment before responding, "Actually, quite good. There's a bit of nervousness, but I feel I can handle the job. Plus, everyone here is so friendly, it makes me feel right at home."

Lily nodded with a smile, "Yes, the atmosphere here is really great. I hope you find your place here."

Alex smiled back, feeling grateful. He knew this was just the beginning, and the road ahead was long. But as long as he kept working hard, he believed he would eventually achieve his dreams.

On his way home, Alex felt particularly light-hearted. He took a stroll along the river, watching the sunset dip below the horizon, and felt a warm glow within.

Despite the hardships in life, Alex had never given up on his pursuit of a better life. He believed that as long as there was light in his heart, the path ahead would become brighter. Back at the apartment, Alex prepared a simple dinner and sat by the window, savoring the rare tranquility. He opened his notebook and began to jot down his thoughts on the day's work and feelings. The words flowed onto the paper, capturing his aspirations and hopes for the future.

"Tomorrow is another day, let's do this!" Alex whispered to himself with a confident and determined smile on his face.
