The next day in Neoville City, Reo is summoned by the higher-ups to a meeting at the military building. A few minutes earlier, he had been at the reception center, confirming his mission, when the receptionist informed him that the senior officers wanted to discuss something with him. She directed Reo to wait in Room No. 10.
As Reo waits, two men in military uniforms, both with general badges, enter the room. Reo stands up and salutes them out of respect for their seniority, then all three sit down. One of the men introduces himself, "I am Dmitri Orlov, and to my left is Igor Mikhailov." Reo introduces himself in return, then asks why both generals have requested to meet him.
Dmitri Orlov responds, "It's about Maelothor. It evolved during your mission. We're interested in knowing how you managed to kill it."
Reo is silent for a moment, thinking to himself, They want to know how I killed Maelothor. If I reveal my newly acquired abilities, I'll draw unwanted attention. A warrior should always keep a few tricks up his sleeve.
Finally, Reo responds, "With respect, sir, I'd rather not disclose my abilities regarding this matter."
Dmitri Orlov presses him further, but Reo's demeanor changes. His voice turns cold, and a bit of his aura seeps out, making the atmosphere in the room profoundly solemn. "I have no intention of revealing my abilities," he states firmly. "Please don't press this matter further."
Both generals exchange a glance, then nod in agreement, and Reo leaves the room. Dmitri and Igor let out sighs of relief, visibly shaken. Dmitri speaks first. "Did you feel that just now? I swear if I'd said one wrong word, death itself would've consumed me."
He turns to Igor, only to find him smiling. Surprised, Dmitri asks, "Why are you smiling?"
Igor replies, "Didn't you feel that aura? At his age, and without any formal cultivation training, he's already that strong. He's an absolute monster. We'd better keep an eye on him."
Later, in the high-security region, Reo meditates in his room when his system notifies him of a credit transfer of 70,000 CP to his account.
The system message reads: "Reo Wilson: Account credited with 70,000 CP for mission completion. Rewards—Titan-class monster kill: 45,000 CP, Low-level monster kills (150): 25,000 CP. Congratulations on completing your first mission."
Reo was overjoyed, thinking, Just by killing a Titan-class monster, I earned 45,000 CP… that's amazing.
Encouraged, he took on five new missions, all of which included Titan-class monsters. As he considered his abilities, he thought, My new power is called Spirit Reader. When I looked it up, I found classifications for warriors: Knights and Spirit Readers. Spirit Readers are quite rare, known for their abilities to perform long-range and mind attacks due to their vast spiritual resonance. But my ability feels like a combination of both Knight and Spirit Reader. Well, I'll keep Spirit Reader a secret for now.
The next day, Reo stood in his sleek, black Chad armor, holding his Nemesis Core blade—a weapon with a metallic white blade and a glowing red energy line along the edge, featuring a circular red power core near the hilt. The sword exuded a blend of elegance and lethality. Reo thought to himself, This Nemesis Core blade cost me 50,000 CP… but against a Titan-class monster, you need a decent weapon. This sword and the armor have almost made me broke.
An officer nearby asked, "Sir, are you ready?"
Reo nodded, his gaze intense and furious, like a demon hungry for the hunt. The gates began to open fully, and before the officer could finish his instructions, Reo dashed forward, instantly killing dozens of monsters. They had no time to scream. The officer watching from the gate stood in stunned silence, dazed by Reo's lethal speed.
A few hours later, Reo arrived at an abandoned city. He instructed his system to search for his target. The system scan notified him of a Titan monster's signal beneath the city. Reo grinned, his eyes glowing as five small shuriken-like blades hovered alongside him. He controlled the shurikens in a drill formation, sending them spinning into the ground. After reaching a depth of 400 feet, he felt the ground tremble.
Oh, did I disturb your sleep? he taunted as the ground cracked open, revealing a massive python. Its skin was wreathed in black flames, two lethal horns jutted from its head, and its crimson eyes locked onto Reo.
"Ohh, look at those scary eyes," Reo taunted. "System, identify it."
The system responded: Name: Demon Flame Python. Class: Titan. Abilities: Flame Attack.
Reo smirked, "Oh, you look quite strong..." He drew his new blade, while the shurikens rotated around him. He dashed toward the python, sending the shurikens to strike its scales, precisely targeting its weak points. The monster let out a pained scream as Reo leapt, landing on top of it. His blade glowed with bright energy.
In response, the python's body erupted in black flames, releasing a fiery breath in Reo's direction. Reo quickly formed a shield using his shurikens, but the flames were so intense that they melted the ground around him. Seizing the opportunity, Reo focused all his power into his grip, delivering a lethal blow that sliced through the monster's head.
Reo sat beside the monster's corpse, breathing heavily. "Man, that was close. Using my Spirit Reader ability puts a lot of strain on my body. If that fight had dragged on any longer, I'd have been at a disadvantage…"
