Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Percy Jackson's Log

Date: September 8, 2019

Let me tell you, despite being a demigod and having gone through some of the most unusual adventures one could imagine, I never thought I'd end up in a prison cell, let alone a cell in New York, but before we get to that part, let's back up a little bit and talk about what got me to this point.

Spoiler: it wasn't a normal day in Central Park.

It was one of those perfect days in New York. The sun was shining, the air was clear, and Central Park seemed like an oasis of tranquility in the midst of the bustle of the city. And I was there, trying to enjoy a rare day off, when suddenly I felt that feeling. The same one you feel when you are in the middle of a shootout, and at the same time in a fight against monsters.... Then my demigod sixth sense was turned on, and I went on alert.

At first I thought it might be a joke from the gods, some sort of trick to interrupt my days off from the navy, since I was on leave, a well-deserved leave.

But NO, the feeling was too real and too unsettling, so, with the same attitude as a hero in a movie who has just heard a cry for help, I headed towards the source of the magical disturbance and what I found was not exactly what I expected.

In the center of Central Park, an ancient structure began to materialize. It wasn't like the Greek or Roman constructions I'm used to seeing; This was more like a mix with styles from different eras and cultures, with an appearance that reminded me of a building taken from an epic fantasy, or from a fantasy and magic series or movie. It was as if someone had decided to combine everything and decided to make it appear in the park.

And as if that wasn't enough, a horseman emerged from the structure itself, but before anyone could get his attention he returned inside, only for an entire army of invaders to appear a few minutes later. Not just any army, but a surreal mix of monsters and soldiers.

The monsters looked like something out of a mix of movies, TV series, and anime that mortals like, while the soldiers looked like a cheap version of the Legion members.

Seriously, if they had had a TV show, it would have been a hit because of its lack of originality.

To make matters worse, the inhabitants of New York were, as expected, completely confused and astonished. Some were paralyzed while they took out their cell phones to take photos or record believing that it was a show, very few had enough common sense to flee from there.

But I, with my demigod instinct at its maximum, knowing that I could not allow chaos to spread throughout the city, did not have time to wait for reinforcements to arrive; so I had to do something to contain the invaders.

I began by analyzing the situation.

Central Park was my terrain, and I knew I had to use everything I had at my disposal to keep the invaders there. I first used the water from the lakes in the park to create a barrier around the structure.

It wasn't an impenetrable wall of water, but it was solid enough to keep most enemies out and limit their mobility.

With the water barrier in place, I moved on to the next phase of my plan: the storm.

I avoided using a full storm on the first try because I didn't want to destroy the park too quickly, nor part of the city, instead, I used lightning and thunder to disorient enemies. Thunder echoed like a crazed rock band, and lightning seemed to mark targets on the ground, striking soldiers and monsters with a precision that not even the gods could have planned.

But, of course, things did not stop there.

The invaders had more tricks up their sleeves, monsters with wings and soldiers with strange weapons that looked like magic staff from the old stereotype of magicians, began to fight back. I started using the park floor to my advantage, creating cracks and moving the earth to make them stumble, my ability to manipulate water was also useful along with the rain to generate waves that pushed enemies towards the structure whenever they tried to move away towards the city. And the power of talking to the horses also helped, as I ordered them to throw their riders and walk away, although I lost count there were undoubtedly several hundred horses that fled to the city

But as the battle continued, I realized I had to do something more drastic. The storm became more intense, and the water of the lake was transformed into a furious torrent, while the trees in the park became improvised projectiles that I threw at the invaders, after quickly assuring myself that they were not trees from the sources of life of the nymphs who had refused to leave the park.

So I turned the park into a battlefield, and the creatures that had invaded the city began to fall back and flee back through that building, structure, portal, or whatever it's called. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity of fighting, I managed to repel the last of the invaders, Central Park was a mess, with bodies of monsters and soldiers scattered everywhere.

The battle was over, but not without cost. My body was exhausted, and the adrenaline that had kept me going during the fight was disappearing, I am a Roman, not a Greek like Andromeda, depending on the gifts inherited from the gods is a thing of the Greeks, we Romans depend much more on our skill with weapons than they do, because it is rare for someone to inherit any power unlike the Greeks, although I like the Greeks more than the legionaries in their way of being.

So I fell to the ground, completely exhausted, and darkness enveloped me.

When I woke up, I found myself in a cell.... Not in an ordinary cell, but in a prison with security cameras and a security system that seemed too modern for my liking. I looked around, confused, and realized that I was not alone. There were armed guards who watched me with a mixture of curiosity and distrust.

Media reports were filled with dramatic descriptions of the battle and the Mist that I had hoped would hide the chaos had failed miserably.

I had saved Central Park and, by extension, New York, not to mention all that I have done by serving in the navy and SEALS, but I still end up in prison, for a moment it feels all too familiar to my time in the legion. But now I was imprisoned, and the world knew the truth about what had happened because images and videos of the battle had been captured and broadcast, so people saw a man with powers destroying their park as a public threat.

Great...

What really bothers me is that, despite everything, the chaos has not stopped. The city has no idea how to handle the truth and is trying to figure out what to do with me.

In the meantime, I'm here, waiting to see what happens next, and I have no idea how I'm going to get out of this situation, but I can say with certainty that, as always, the life of a demigod, especially that of a son of one of the big three, is a rollercoaster ride with no brakes

Despite all this, I stay on my feet, trying to keep my sense of humor intact. If I can't laugh at the craziness around me, I'd lose my mind.

So here I am, waiting to see how this new chapter in my life unfolds, my hope is that, in the end, the truth will prevail and I can clear my name. Until then, I will continue writing in this diary, which I invoked thanks to the fog cards I bought for the Greek daughter of Trivia, although I gave my guards a scare.

Anyway, I will continue writing in order to let off steam and face the chaos with the same determination as always.

With frustration and a hint of sarcasm, Percy Jackson
