Xiao Lei looked at the structure in front of him, a sign saying Wu's Delicacy Tavern. He did not know why he was here, his feet simply just moved on its own. It has been a day since the encounter with his father and he was currently sleeping in Lin Luo Manor, which was owned by his close friend, Lin Luo.
He did not want to live under the same room with those from Xiao Clan. He just could not bear being in the same room and air as them. There were many rumors that Xiao Lei was a good-for-nothing and that he was extremely perverted and Xiao Lei wouldn't deny them because they were all true. However, he never hurt a woman in his life and he did not used his status against commoners. Well, in some rare and helpless cases, maybe.
Members of the Xiao Clan call him scumbag and wastrel but so what? At least he do all degenerate things while still capable of respecting the rights of human beings. But them? No! Members of the Xiao Clan were all overbearing and arrogant, oftentimes abusing their power to their advantage, even killing someone just to achieve what they wanted.
Xiao Lei naturally did not want to inherit such despicable traits of his brothers and his father. And so, fortunately, his kind friend Lin Luo lets him stay at his manor for a while.
Then today, he walked through the streets of Nobles District, with no particular place in mind when he stumbled this Wu's Delicacy Tavern. Xiao Lei knew what this place was. It was an extremely popular tavern among nobles. He had heard many stories about it, including its owner, Wu Hantian who was granted by the Domain Lord a noble title.
He once heard his father expressing his disdain against this establishment, saying this was a place filled with false nobles. By false nobles, his father meant people who were granted such a prestigious status but did not come from powerful families. His father greatly resent such people and thinks that false nobles stain the name of nobility.
But for Xiao Lei? He did not really care, false noble, noble or whatever. He saw them all as human beings. Imperfect and full of flaws, and that was what make humans beautiful. He did not believe in the superiority of bloodline, in cultivation maybe, but never in what a person came from.
And now that he was here, he did not hesitate to think and just opened the door.
"HAHAHAHA! And that young lad of Wujiang actually tripped!"
"Seriously!? That was hilarious!"
Xiao Lei just stared in front of him, unable to comprehend or register what was happening.
Nobles.
They were people of such a high and prestigious status, and they often had a mission to act to utmost perfection. They were thought to be superior and was above ordinary people. People who were granted such a title in the Black Dust Domain were always revered and respected.
However, that definition of nobility that was burned in his mind because his teacher (also a noble) taught him this, just shattered as he stared at the scene in disbelief.
A lot of noble people, men or women, were inside, drinking, chatting, and even dancing wildly. They looked ordinary, wearing normal clothes made out of inexpensive materials. Sure, there were nobles wearing expensive clothes here, but they, too, act like they were commoners. The perfectionism in manners taught to people of noble status, seemed to not exist in this place. Everyone were laughing, geniune in their actions. He could even hear some vulgarities but this was what made the tavern fun.
Xiao Lei looked around for more than thirty seconds when a young man in blue clothing approached him.
"Welcome to our humble tavern, Wu's Delicacy Tavern. Is this your first time, Young Master?" Jiang Ye happily said as he stared at Xiao Lei. He had noticed that this young master, who was wearing clothes made out of rare materials, was standing still by the door, not saying anything and just looking in shock. He determined that the young master needed some help.
"Uh…" At this moment, Xiao Lei did not know what to say. Should he just get out? No, since he was already here, he may as well go with the flow. "Well, yeah, it is my first time."
Xiao Lei looked at Jiang Ye, noticing a lot of calluses in his hand as the latter held the menu. He had never seen this guy before, but he was sure this was not a noble, maybe a commoner doing farming stuff?
"That's great! Allow me to introduce to you various stuffs about Wu's Delicacy Tavern as we go to your table."
"Alright," Xiao Lei nodded his head, following Jiang Ye as they slipped through the crowd. After about 20 seconds, Xiao Lei finally picked his own table and chair and sat there.
"Alright, since you now know details about Wu's Delicacy Tavern, this is your menu." Jiang Ye handed him the menu.
Xiao Lei put the menu on the table and scanned his eyes through it, noticing a lot of variations of food he had been used in eating normally in Xiao Clan Estate. "I am going to get, uh, just Ever-Seasons Liquor."
"Is that so?" Jiang Ye moved his brows for a bit before nodding. "Noted. I'll take what you ordered."
Jiang Ye left the table and goes to the counter. Meanwhile, Xiao Lei just stared in the bustling scene in front of him, not knowin what to say or do. There was a part of him that wanted to leave the place, out of embarassment of being alone.
However, another part of him argued that if he just left, he was essentially just running away. Thinking of this, Xiao Lei suddenly looked firm and full of determination. He will see through this until the end, whatever happen. He could not back down now, he was already here.
And so, he just waited for drink, not knowing that this will be the most significant moment of his life.
