"Your parents hate me," I said after I settled in a room that Seraphina chose for me. She sighed and stopped what she was doing to give me her full attention.
"They will come around, don't mind them." She replied, with a smile. "They are wonderful parents, but they tend to speak their minds a lot. If they see something that they don't like, they won't be afraid to tell it to your face." And she's just telling me this now?
"I wish you had warned me. If you did, then I would stay in Cyrathis instead of coming here and causing trouble for you," I said.
Seraphina stepped closer to me, her expression softening. "Nicholas, you're not causing trouble for me. You're here because I want you here. My parents' opinions don't dictate my choices."
I shook my head, letting out a frustrated sigh. "It doesn't feel that way. They look at me like I'm some... invader. Like I don't belong here. And I get it, okay? I'm not one of them. I'm not—"
