I left the medical wing still feeling a bit emotional, my thoughts on Kieran. He was still so weak, and yet he wanted to be by my side. He was stubborn, too stubborn sometimes. But I couldn't think about that now. There were more pressing matters to address.
Captain Gerard had come back to inform me of a gathering that was being held in my name. I had to attend, even though I didn't want to be anywhere else other than with Kieran.
The halls of the castle felt different today. I couldn't quite explain it, but there was an energy as if everyone knew something monumental was about to happen. When I reached the main chamber, I was met with a sight that made my heart skip.
The room was filled. Members of the court, nobles, and even commoners had gathered. Their eyes turned to me as I entered, and a hush fell over the crowd. Gerard stood near the front, his face calm but his eyes watchful.
