Chapter 7 - The liar who speaks truth and the man with 100 useless plans

[T/N] I change his name around so Clover is his first name now With Benson being his last name]

Suddenly, a boy with a long nose appeared from a high place and shouted to everyone.

"Awesome!!!" Luffy exclaimed after hearing about the 80 million subordinates.

Clover, Zoro, and Nami looked at Luffy as if he were a fool. How could someone have 80 million followers?

"It's a lie," Nami smiled and said to Usopp.

"Oops! You've figured it out?" Usopp panicked after hearing this.

"Look, he admitted to it," Nami said.

"I accidentally let it slip! Eighty million followers is indeed an exaggeration, but I still have excellent subordinates!" Usopp shouted.

"Is this a lie?" Luffy turned to Nami and asked.

"Of course it is!" Clover shouted. He didn't expect Luffy to be so gullible. It seems that the Luffy from two years ago, who hadn't yet grown up, was indeed too naive.

Following Usopp's words, six flags were waving in the grass along the shore.

"It's only three people," Clover pointed out to Usopp.

"Ah!!" Three children jumped out of the grass and shouted, "We've been found out!!"

"Run away, quickly!"

The three children couldn't help but run off, not bothering to pick up the flags.

"Hey! Don't run, you three!" Usopp shouted, but the three little ones ignored him.

"I've never heard of a pirate using a slingshot," Nami said as she picked up the object Usopp had used to attack Luffy. It turned out to be marbles.

"Hahahaha, you're so funny," Luffy laughed at Usopp.

After a series of antics, Usopp discovered that Luffy knew Shanks, the one who had taken his father away. Enthusiastically, Usopp brought Clover and the others to the village restaurant and kept asking about his father.

Luffy continued praising Yasopp's (Jesus Bu's) sniper skills.

Clover wondered how his own sniping skills would compare to Yasopp's. He vowed to test them if the chance ever came.

"I wonder if we could find a boat in your village? We're willing to pay for it," Nami finally asked. After all, relying on only a small fishing boat would be ridiculous. As she talked about money, her eyes were on the two large bags at Clover's feet.

Naturally, Clover had brought all the treasure with him to prevent it from being stolen by thieves.

"Unfortunately, as you can see, this is just a small village," Usopp said.

"There... is a large mansion on the hill," Zoro said, looking out the window.

Usopp became visibly panicked after hearing this.

"Hey, is that Usopp's friend? Could you ask him to sell us a ship?" Nami asked Usopp.

"That's not an option!" Usopp quickly replied. "Ah! I just remembered something I need to do. I know the boss here well, so just eat and drink! I'm leaving! Goodbye!" Usopp quickly grabbed his bag and rushed out.

"What's wrong? Why the sudden panic?" Nami asked as she watched Usopp rush out the door.

"Looks like he doesn't want us going there," Clover said.

"Usopp Pirates, join us!" Right after Usopp left, a child's voice came from the door.

"Huh?" Nami looked back, confused.

"It's those three kids waving the flags earlier," Clover said, sitting next to Nami and leaning close to peek out the door. He was now very close to Nami and could smell her perfume.

"Hey! You're too close!" Nami said, pushing Clover's face away.

"The captain isn't here," one of the children said.

"Could it be..." The three kids immediately ran to Luffy and the others. "Hey, pirates, what did you do with Captain Usopp?"

"This meat is delicious," Luffy said, patting his full belly.

"Eh?" The three kids trembled and hugged each other. "Did you... eat the captain?"

"What have you done!?"

"We ate your captain!" Zoro teased with a menacing smile.

"It tasted pretty good," Clover added, grinning.

"Ahh! Dominatrix!" The kids pointed at Nami and yelled.

"Why are you pointing at me?!" Nami slammed the table and stood up, frightening the kids, who collapsed to the ground. Clover and the others burst into laughter.

"That's what you get for talking nonsense!" Nami scolded them.

After some explanations, the kids realized Clover and the others were joking and led them to the mansion to find Usopp.

As expected, Usopp was there. After seeing Kaya, Luffy wanted to ask her for a boat, but the sudden appearance of Kuro interrupted him.

When Kuro appeared, Clover's mind flashed back to the old system interface.

[Didi didi... Mission Triggered: Defeat Kuro. Reward: Modification Point x1]

"Looks like I'm going to steal Luffy's job," Clover thought to himself after receiving the mission. It would be easy to defeat Kuro. Even without modifiers, his combat experience alone could handle Kuro.

"What are you doing here?" Kuro shouted at Luffy and the others. "It's disgraceful to intrude in someone else's home." Kuro adjusted his glasses with his wrist as he spoke.

"Who's that guy?" Luffy asked, looking at Kuro.

Under Kuro's sneering remarks, Usopp attacked Kuro and punched him in the face. But just as he was about to land another blow, Kaya stepped in, and Usopp retreated in shame.

"And you lot, ragged tramps—do you even deserve to be here?" Kuro shouted at Clover and the others, focusing especially on Clover.

"Oh?" Clover was stunned by Kuro's words. What did this have to do with him? Was it just because he hadn't had the chance to buy new clothes yet?

"Hey, don't insult my crewmates!" Clover hadn't reacted yet, but Luffy already was.

"So what if I insult them? Are you going to resort to violence like Usopp?" Kuro said, glaring at Luffy.

"Watch me beat you up!" Luffy shouted, preparing to attack.

Clover reached out to stop him.

Since Kuro had already said that, Clover wouldn't let him off. And even without the mission from the system, he would still take him down. But first, Kaya had to learn the truth about Kuro's real identity, or they wouldn't get the boat.

"We still need her to give us a ship, so let's hold back for now," Clover said, grabbing Luffy's arm.
