The moment stretches endlessly.
The tail tearing through his chest feels both instant and eternal. The sickening sound of the air being sucked from his lungs is deafening, lingering until the tail rips free, leaving blood erupting from his chest and mouth in violent unison.
Through the haze overtaking his vision, all he can see is the panic in Morgan's eyes.
Don't look at me like that…
The thought echoes in his mind as his body gives way, collapsing to the floor. Time slows even further, every second carved with the shock etched into the faces around him.
Morgan breaks free from Noctis's grip and scrambles over to him. Her trembling hands catch his head as she cradles him in her arms, her voice shaking, but no words seem to come.
