The planning came to a halt, Blaise and Legion left until the morning of tomorrow came and then they'll continue before Nocits has to go meet her brother. Now, Legion left Blaise with orders to tell Morgan that I'll be there late to pick up his siblings, even though their house is close to their home he didn't want them anywhere close to it until he is sure it is safe for the moment.
The door creaked as he pushed it open, the dimly lit interior revealing shadows that seemed to shift and breathe. Each step inside felt like a plunge into the unknown, the air thick with an underlying feeling of dread, what crawls up his spine.
It's like I'm in a horror movie. I have never enjoyed those in my past life.
The house is like his, but much darker and gloomy, and as his eyes move around the space he sees the boy in the corner on his bed, his once nice forest green eyes, now seemingly bulging out of his head and staring out into the unknown.
He lay silently on the bed with his head facing the ceiling, until the floorboard beneath Legion's feet creaks and as he looks down and looks back up the boy's head is already in his direction, staring at him, not saying anything.
"Creepy!" Cinder shouts flyings behind at once.
Legion's face twists into disgust.
"He really did a number on you." Legions say aloud.
"You noticed my finest work." A familiar voice rings in the air, as the boy's mouth opens widely. "My new puppet."
No-name.
"You came so early I guess keeping the boy alive was a good choice." His voice sounded amused and pleased with the mercy he gave to Blaise. "You're lucky you didn't bring him here again, I wouldn't have let a gem like him get away again." He chuckles, but the boy he is speaking from stays still, his mouth open like an abyss.
"I need to know something." Legion demands bypassing all his jokes and cunning remarks. "When will you turn him into a monster?"
"So demanding…" He purrs. "Much different from your first life where you were begging me to prove that you were innocent."
Legions restraints all the flashbacks threatening to consume him of that moment in the past. "Just answer my question."
"I was planning on releasing it tomorrow." Legion steps forward ready to interject, and try a way to persuade him not to. "But, I've decided not to since that little trio of you guys seemed to be interesting and I want that battle to be enjoyable."
"So, when then?" He says stepping back relaxing his muscles.
"When you reach level ten, though it will come at a price, do you accept?"
Everything about him is deals, and it's always to his favour and desires. He I can say is the worst of them all.
"What price?" He inquires.
"The ultimate price, death." No-name's words hang in the air, heavy that make a lump form in his throat. "Who…Who's death."
"Of .…" The name surprises Legion.
"You can't!" He puts his footward feeling as though the world is crumbling under him. "He's living happily now!"
"They're world is already going to crumble so it's for the best." No-name seems to shrug it off. "He'll become something greater, I promise."
"You mean a monster." He hisses.
"Yeah, just like you."
I can't accept it, but if I don't then everyone in here will die tomorrow, if we have until I reach level ten then we would have a better chance, but like this we have nothing.
His mind seems to spiral as he overthinks it all.
"Come on you're going to be a mutant monster anyways." No-names voice seems to echo in his mind, like taunts breaking him down piece by piece. "A monster who will kill monster and humans alike, so I can give you a little push."
"Don't take it, Legion!" Cinder shouts to get to him but he can't.
"It's just one kill, no one will blame you, more so they should praise you." No-name continues. "And if you do, I'll give this boy endless torture for what he did to his mother, killing two birds with one stone."
Legion can feel his mind breaking apart with each whisper, each taunt that reminds him of his past and deaths, until he gives in with an. "Ok." his voice oozing with sorrow.
"Legion…" Cinder could only mutter softly. The decision was sealed and nothing can undo it now.
No-name burst out laughing. "Good!" He says statistically. "Now here comes your curse."
Curse? What curse! There shouldn't be any!
"I'll erase the memory of who it is." His words are so smooth, yet dangerous. "So you'll think that any death that happens was because of you." No-name's voice drips with satisfaction. "Every death, or mishap that occurs, you'll believe it's your fault. You'll beat yourself up until you crack, and when you finally shatter, that noble personality of yours will be gone as well. Isn't Human brains are so fascinating, don't you think?"
Legion legs seem to give out as he crashes to the floor hopeless at least that's what he wants No-name to believe.
Being the only salvation of humanity—the word they would call him—he witnesses countless deaths, each one weighing on him. Even in his second life, the people he's had to kill to survive haunt him, though death doesn't affect him the way it once did.
Yet, he can still feel them, their eyes watching him, their final pleas for life lingering like a ghostly presence around him. If this death, this sacrifice, means more get to live, then their deaths aren't for nothing. He can live with it, he tells himself, no matter how terrible it is.
"But for now, that's it. Goodbye, little monster." The boy's mouth closes and he faces back at the ceiling as all memories of the name leaves both Cinder and Legion's mind.
"There's…" He whispers, as he lifts his head, his blue eyes glowing unlike before as a vein stretches up his neck and arms. "There's no way I'll let some monarch think he will break me."
It seems like I have forgotten myself, being reborn into this body.
