Chapter 2 - Please save my world

Zei Ryu remained silent, in this kind of situation, accepting the King's request was obvious, every protagonist was like that because it was moral to help people in distress. But he didn't want to fight the Demon King, he didn't want to lose his life when he'd just come back to life, he was realistic and not stupid, after all, he was just a 22-year-old student. He was powerless

However, refusing his request could also upset the King himself, what's more he was incapable of refusing, in his current state he had no free will, he didn't know if he could return to his world ? Was it even possible ? Refuse in front of the King and be executed for abdicating responsibility ? Never. So he had no way to refuse his request in the end.

"I would save the world." He said reluctantly in his heart.

The king nods in appreciation.

The sun began to disappear, the sky gradually turned black showing that night was coming.

The King noticed the fall of night and called upon his guards, commanding them to prepare a free chamber. Upon receiving the order, they set off towards a tower.

"We will discuss the details tomorrow, until then, please rest comfortably." He nodded towards the priestess, asking him to follow her.

She stepped forward and turned to look at Zei Ryu. "Please follow me," she said with a charming smile.

Suddenly realizing something, she turned back to him and said : "I haven't introduced myself, my name is Hélèna."

Through the view of a window illuminated by a candle, one could see passersby. They were different from Zei Ryu because he was an Easterner and not a Westerner. Sometimes one could see people performing magic tricks, with real magic of course, others going out to drink, or others returning home. Moreover, it was winter here.

The starry and snowy sky was already dark, yet a light could be seen behind the window and a silhouette was there, it was Zei Ryu.

The room in which he lived was in one of his lord's towers, measuring 13 m², with luxurious decorations : a gold candle on a varnished dark oak table with golden accents on the edges, a double bed with a tufted headboard, a red carpet in the center of his room. Obviously, the room offered a beautiful view of the city, Zei Ryu was sitting on the edge of the window.

Since his arrival in this world, from his death to his transmigration, he had not had the time to organize his mind. Zei Ryu did not know how he could understand the language of this world, but he suspected that something had happened between his death and his transmigration that allowed him to understand. It still remained beneficial for him.

Zei Ryu's student outfit was already damaged upon his arrival in this world, so he had to replace it with a new one, currently, he was wearing a white medieval-style shirt with jet-black pants. Which helped him to integrate into this world.

Speaking of which, Zei Ryu, after looking at the passers-by on the terrace, thought he should discover their culture, so he asked Hélèna before leaving to get him a book about this world.

On his right hand was a green encyclopedia, which was not as big as his original world, allowing him to hold it with just one hand. The cover was written in the language of this world, but thanks to the phenomenon of transmigration, even though it was written in an unknown language, he was able to translate it.

"Who created this world ?" Was written on the cover.

Hélèna told me it was a book to teach children about the world.

Although it's a children's book, it's still essential for him, and there were no other books available at the moment. The other books are kept by the King in his royal library, and the library was closed for the time being.

Below the title was the author's name. "By Mr Magnus Stone".

Magnus Stone was a scholar, born two centuries ago as a commoner, whose book made him very popular, allowing him to gain noble titles and pursue his knowledge. Today, his book remains popular despite the passage of two centuries. However, he remained a mortal and died of old age, the Midgard having lost an important figure.

His death had become a day of rest and celebration.

"Well, let's start reading shall we ?"

With his left hand, he opened the cover.
