Chapter 5 - Shadows Closing In

Lyra's scream echoed through her apartment as the shadows closed in. She scrambled backward, desperate to escape the darkness.

"No, no, no! Get away from me! Lyra's scream echoed through her apartment as the shadows closed in.

She scrambled backward, desperate to escape the darkness. "No, no, no! Get away from me! Lydia's scream echoed through her apartment as the shadows closed in. She scrambled backward, desperate to escape the darkness. "No, no, no! Get away from me!! "

In a desperate plea, she cried out for the one person she hoped could save her. "Gabrieeelllleeee, Heeellpp mmmeee!!!"

Unbeknownst to Lyra, Gabrielle stood atop a nearby rooftop, her ethereal wings spread wide. She sensed Lyra's distress and took a majestic leap, soaring toward Lyra's apartment.

As Gabrielle descended, her wings glowed with an otherworldly light, illuminating the darkening room. Lyra's eyes locked onto Gabrielle's radiant form, and for a moment, she forgot to breathe.

Gabrielle went through the wall like a ghost and teleported to where Lyra is, and she wrapped her wings around Lyra, making the shadow's screams from pain and forcing her to let go of Lyra's foot. Gabrielle's presence filled Lyra with a sense of calm and protection as she freed her from the shadow's grasp. With a gentle touch, Gabrielle whispered, "Stay here."

''No, please don't leave me here !! '' Lyra pleaded, her voice trembling with fear. Gabrielle smiled reassuringly, her eyes filled with warmth and determination. "I will return soon, I promise," she said before making a sign, and Lyra was inside a glowing bubble protecting her from the darkness that's surrounded them. As Gabrielle ventured off to face the shadows, Lyra watched in awe as her friend bravely fought to protect her.

Gabrielle pulled out her sword, and the humanoid shadows did the same. At first, Gabrielle could handle them, but when a red shadow suddenly appeared, it suddenly filled Gabrielle; it enveloped the entire room in its red light.

And the shadows doubled their strength that Gabrielle was having a hard time getting rid of them because they don't die anymore; they just keep coming back.

Gabrielle was so busy slashing the shadows when her peripheral vision saw how the bubble she made to protect Lyra burst .

She quickly tried to go there, but another red shadow grabbed her foot and pulled her back into the midst of the humanoid shadows. As she struggled to break free, Gabrielle realized that she needed to come up with a new strategy to defeat these relentless enemies and protect Lyra before it was too late.

But her breathing stopped when she saw that the shadow was now enveloping Lyra. She saw how the shadows now slowly glow in Lyra's veins , spreading throughout her body like a dark poison. Panic surged through Gabrielle as she frantically searched for a way to save her friend from the ominous grip of the shadows. Time was running out, and she knew she had to act fast before it was too late.

''No.'' she shouted when she saw how Lyra's was beginning to convulse, her eyes rolling back in her head. Desperation fueled Gabrielle as she reached out, determined to break through the darkness and bring Lyra back to safety.

But everything went silent, and she saw how the shadows were vacuumed to Lyra, and in a split second and eyes soaring light came out from Lyra. Gabrielle watched in awe as the light enveloped Lyra, banishing the shadows.

Lyra's eyes glowed while she floated in the air. Lyra looked in Gabrielle's direction before the light from Lyra's body diminished and she fell, but Gabrielle was fast to catch her before she fell to the ground.

Outside, a mysterious figure stood at the corner, watching Lyra's apartment. Clad in a sleek suit and fedora, he exuded an air of sophistication. The apartment's glow faded, returning to normal. The stranger's eyes gleamed with intrigue. "That's a very interesting soul up there," he murmured, his voice low and smooth. With a nod, he vanished into the night, leaving behind only a whisper of his presence.

The shadows retreated back to Aramania, bearing news of their defeat. Eris, the beautiful but brutal princess, listened intently.

"So, Lyra defeated you with a single, swift action?" Eris's voice dripped with fascination.

The lead shadow nodded, trembling. "Yes, Your Highness. She harnessed an extraordinary power."

Eris's eyes sparkled with intrigue. "This chosen one is more captivating than I imagined."

Just then, a dark, ominous presence filled the room. Erebus, the god of darkness and Eris's father, appeared.

"Eris, what have you done?" Erebus's voice boomed, his eyes blazing with authority.

Eris stood tall, despite her father's intimidating presence. "I merely sent shadows to investigate the chosen one, Father."

She lied.

Erebus's expression turned stern. "You know the rules, Eris. Earth is off-limits. I forbade you from interfering with its inhabitants."

Eris's curiosity piqued. "Why, Father? What's so special about this planet?"

Erebus's response was firm. "My rules are not to be questioned. You will not set foot on Earth. It's our number one decree for a reason."

Eris's eyes narrowed, sensing a hidden motive. "What reason, Father?"

Erebus's gaze intensified. "Focus on Aramania's affairs. Leave Earth alone."

Eris's interest in Lyra only deepened. Why was her father so adamant about keeping her away from Earth? What secrets lay hidden?

"I'll uncover the truth, Father," she whispered to herself. "And the chosen one will be the key."

Eris summoned her most trusted advisor, Malakai.

"Malakai, prepare a discreet mission to Earth. I want to know more about Lyra and her powers." Malakai bowed. "As you wish, Princess." Eris's smile hinted at her true intentions. "This is just the beginning."
