Chapter 14 - The Age of Gods Begins

Jack surveyed the assembled spirits with an easygoing grin, arms folded as he took in the determined expressions of his newest "godly" recruits. This was, after all, a big moment—these beings had been chosen specifically to make their mark, and he wanted them to get it right.

"Alright, here's the deal," Jack began, looking each spirit in the eye. "You're all here because you're the best fit for the roles I'm setting up. Think of this as your big break. You'll have the chance to lead a whole people, to be the embodiment of a belief or idea. And that's not something I hand out lightly."

Lucifer chimed in, arms crossed and a smirk on his face. "Quite right. And let's be clear—it's a test as much as it is an opportunity. You're not 'gods' yet; you're spirits with potential. If you want that title, you're going to have to earn it."

Amenadiel, always the responsible one, nodded in agreement. "Yes. You'll need to focus on growth—on building something worthy of real power. That means guiding, not overpowering. Show some restraint and strategy."

Jack continued, "Now, each of you has unique qualities that fit what I need. For example, Nysandir—you've got that connection to nature, a real grounding presence. Zyrkaron," Jack's gaze shifted to the demonic spirit, "You'll fit right into the darker, more unpredictable aspects that R'hllor's going to need. And Hieromar," he looked at the proud, slightly aloof spirit, "your ambition and… let's call it 'self-assuredness' are perfect for the Faith of the Seven. You're going to be in a position that requires a firm hand."

He paused, letting the weight of his words settle on them. "But remember—this is about growth, not just domination. Your job isn't to play puppet master. You're setting a stage for evolution, for humanity to connect with something bigger than themselves. Don't interfere too much, but don't slack off either."

The spirits nodded, taking in his words. Then, in a flashback, Jack recalled an earlier conversation with Ari. "Why not offer a prize?" Ari had suggested with a mischievous glint in his eye. "Nothing gets the competitive spirit going like the promise of a reward. How about… a planet? Let the winners shape it to their liking, their own realm of influence."

Jack had liked the idea but decided against spilling the beans on the prize right now. He wanted them focused on their purpose, not fixated on some distant goal.

Returning to the present, he clapped his hands, snapping everyone back into attention. "Alright. Where you're headed is ancient, untouched—this is your shot to set things in motion. Prove yourselves, and who knows what awaits you at the end."

With a flick of his wrist, Jack opened a portal, and the shimmering gate glowed with an invitation. Each spirit took a breath, squared their shoulders, and stepped through, disappearing into the new world where they'd shape humanity's beliefs and, if they played their cards right, ascend to godhood.

Jack turned to Lucifer and Amenadiel with a raised brow. "Ready to see how they handle this?"

Lucifer chuckled, "Oh, I'm betting there'll be drama—can't have divinity without a little conflict."

Amenadiel shook his head but smiled. "Here's hoping they make the most of it."

With that, the trio settled in to observe, watching as their "gods-to-be" began to weave themselves into the world's fabric, pushing for that growth Jack had set them on. The Age of Gods was beginning, and they had front-row seats.
