Chapter 8 - Epitome of Beauty

Dom paid half his attention to the lecture during General Knowledge and the other half trying to figure out how to get his own aura.

The aura was obviously a physical result of the Professor's Arcana and physical prowess, while the reason for the pressure the students felt was probably due to their brain interpreting the aura as a threat.

So all he had to do was train his body and arcanum better to be able to naturally exert the aura. It was easier said than done when he still hasn't figured out his arcanum.

With a sigh, he dismissed his thoughts on getting an aura.

...

The cacophony of noises filled the hallway, strangers walking past each other, all trying to reach their next class. The group of friends quickly made their way to their next class, which was physical training.

Entering the class that looked similar to the assembly, they quickly made their way to the left side of the class. Passing by the right side of the class, numerous snickers and muffled laughter were thrown at them, but they decided to ignore it.

This time around, they were definitely late for class. If not for Nat who suddenly decided to head to the cafeteria to eat once more, they wouldn't have been late.

Quickly searching for a seat, they made their way to the back of the class.

"Scoot.", Nat said as she pushed Dom to the side. Dom hissed and sat beside Aurie.

Everyone was seated and ready to begin their lecture, yet their lecturer was nowhere to be seen. Unable to sight their teacher, the group engaged in a conversation on what they learnt from the previous class.

They stopped their conversation as the door opened, revealing a tall black woman. Her hair was tied in two buns, she wore a pair of glasses with a few strands falling in between her eyes.

Unlike the other school officials he had met, her aura was not one of mental pressure, it was radiating kindness. Her facial expression, gaze, steps, even the closeness of her lips radiated how nice she was.

Dom couldn't help but take in the sight of the black goddess walking. He wasn't the only one that was dumbstruck by her appearance.

"Are we into black beauty?", Nat asked as she teased Atlas.

"Wh-what do you mean?", he replied as he tried to get his act together.

Not replying, Nat simply smiled at him.

"Good day, I'm Astrid and I'll be taking you Physical education.", the lecturer smiled in the direction of the students.

'That voice.', both rich and poor thought at the same time. Miss Astrid sounded like an Angel.

"Let's begin.", by the time Dom was finally able to regain his cool, Miss Astrid was already halfway into the lecture. He looked to his left to see the devious Nat smiling at him. Removing his gaze from her, he turned on his recorder.

"The most common question asked is, how do I get an aura?", Miss Astrid continued.

"You'll probably think that, the stronger you get, the more you are able to release your own personal aura. That thought isn't wrong, but it is only partly true.

To be able to exude your aura, you'll have to go through a tough training procedure while being influenced by the dust torus.", she paused to look at the students.

'Even if partly, I was right.', Dom triumphantly thought.

"Behind the training hall is where the dust torus is kept. You have free access to the training facility. Most of our classes will be held in the training, but that will be after we are done with the theoretical part .", Astrid revealed all at once.

Hearing the teacher's words, a dreadful feeling came over Dom. If he still wasn't able to know his arcanum before the training he'd become a laughing stock for the rich bastards. Not only would he become a laughing stock, he'd probably also be exempted from the training. He'd also miss out on his chances with Astrid

'Arghh!'

The class went on and Dom continued listening to his teacher's mellifluous voice, hoping it'll allow him to let go of his worries. .

Sadly, the class came to an end and he still held on to his worries, but he did learn a few things about battle styles.

The one that interested him was the Jeet Kune Do, abbreviated as JKD. It was a form of martial arts that allowed him to modify it to fit his fighting style. Since his next period was free, what else could he do but practice the JKD?

...

The hallway obviously felt different since most of the students had class and his friends weren't with him. The next class on the timetable were professional classes that aligned with their arcanum. Without knowing his arcanum, he was technically free for that period.

Dom made his way to training Hall to try out the battle styles explained by his graceful goddess of a teacher.

Entering the training hall, he saw the same boy who raised his hand during general knowledge already training in one of the rings.

For someone to be in the training hall while professional classes were still ongoing, it either meant that he did awaken or his arcanum is yet to be activated.

"Hey.", Dom called out as he climbed into the ring.

The boy was startled as he looked at the person behind him.

"He-ey", he replied after taking a long look at Dom.

Looking at the kid's reaction made Dom's blood boil. To get that kind of reaction, it probably meant that the kid is being bullied.

'He probably thinks I'm one of those rich bastards!'

"I'm not one of those bastards.", he immediately

"Oh"

"Yeah, I kinda need a spar partner. Do you mind being one?", the boy looked skeptical but he slowly nodded his head.

"Ok then, shall we practice Jeet Kune Dun."

The Jeet Kune Dun, abbreviated as JKD, is an advanced form of martial arts. It focuses on adding personal ideas to make martial arts better for the person. It is built on principles of the least movement but high damage.

They only had less than an hour to learn the JKD, so Dom wanted to make it count as much as possible.

...

The tinkering of the machine could be heard in a room filled with numerous turned on computers. The room looked like a lab, but lacked the testing tubes and other various scientific equipment.

Several centuries had passed since the creation of codes for computers, yet they still existed till this date, with little modifications.

Behind the biggest screen visible in the room, a masculine figure with various gray hair falling down his face was seated. Several codes were being written on the screen in front of him as he kept on telling the computer what to input. He could have simply thought of what he wanted, for the computer to write down, but due to his excitement, he kept shouting them out.

"Print it on the lense!", not long after he shouted the command, a compartment beside the computer opened up with a hissing sound.

Without waiting for it to fully eject, he quickly removed the lenses carefully.

"Finally, it's done!", he couldn't help but excitedly laugh. His greatest creation, that had taken half of his life to create, was finally ready.

Finally ending his maniacal laughter, he proceeded to place the lenses on his eye.

Midway through, his arm was abruptly severed in two. His eyes opened from shock as his arm was severed and suddenly covered by metal. He didn't even get to scream before his neck was sliced and also covered by the same metal.

Around his neck was a simple round iron that expanded itself round his neck, to prevent blood from dripping onto the floor, while also containing the blood.

Holding the sword in his left hand and the lense, gently, on his right, the person, who just spilled a man's blood, held the earpod on his ear and said

"Target acquired" and with that, both individuals suddenly vanished into thin air.
