Chapter 5 - Auditions

Three days had passed since the twins had posted their latest video. In those three days, they had watched their view count soar, their hearts swelling with pride and excitement as they realized that their music was truly making an impact.

On this particular evening, Luna and Stella were sitting at the dining table, discussing their next steps. Their parents and Daniel were listening intently, clearly eager to support their daughters in any way they could.

"Maybe we could start performing at some local venues," Stella suggested, her voice filled with excitement. "We could get some more exposure, and maybe even make some new fans."

They know the only way to boast their career is by winning the talent competition.

Just as the twins were discussing their next move, the doorbell rang. Stella jumped up, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. "I'll get it," she said, racing to the door.

When she opened it, Chloe stood on the doorstep, her smile wide and infectious. "Hey, guys!" she exclaimed, her voice full of excitement. "I've got some news for you!"

Stella ushered Chloe into the living room, where Luna and their parents were waiting. "What's the news?" Luna asked, leaning forward in anticipation.

Chloe's smile grew even wider.

"The talent show has decided to make a change," Chloe said, her eyes dancing with excitement. "Instead of performing solo, you have to have a band with five other members. It's a chance to really show off your musical skills."

The twins exchanged a startled glance, their faces falling slightly. "But how will we find band members?" Stella asked, her voice tinged with concern. "It's not like we have a lot of musical friends."

Chloe shrugged, her smile still as bright as ever. "That's where the fun comes in," she said.

"You could hold auditions!" Chloe suggested, her voice growing even more animated. "I mean, you're both talented singers and guitarists. You just need to find people who can play the other instruments. It's not going to be easy, but it will be worth it."

The twins exchanged a nervous glance, their eyes filled with a mixture of excitement and uncertainty. "Auditions?" Luna asked, her voice quavering slightly. "Like, real auditions?"

Chloe nodded, her face brimming with confidence. "Yes, real auditions," she confirmed.

Stella frowned, a crease forming between her brows. "Who would even want to come to our auditions?" she asked, her voice echoing Luna's concern. "We're just starting out—we don't have a big following or anything."

Chloe laughed, a musical sound that filled the room. "You'd be surprised," she said, her voice full of conviction. "There are plenty of talented musicians out there looking for an opportunity. All you have to do is put the word out."

The twins exchanged another glance, their faces slowly beginning to light up.

Luna and Stella nodded in agreement, their excitement growing with each passing second. "We'll post the auditions on HopTube and Dogram," Stella said, her voice growing more confident by the moment. "We'll ask people to submit videos of themselves playing their instrument, and we'll choose the best ones."

Luna turned to Chloe, a grateful smile on her face. "Thank you, Chloe," she said, her voice sincere. "We couldn't do this without you."

Chloe waved away the thanks, her eyes sparkling with happiness. "You guys are going to be amazing," she said.

With Chloe's encouragement still ringing in their ears, Luna and Stella began to put their plan into motion. They crafted a post for their HopTube and Dogram accounts, detailing the auditions and asking interested musicians to send in videos of themselves playing.

As the days passed, they began to receive submissions from musicians from all over the city, each one showcasing their own unique style and talent. Luna and Stella watched each video with hard breath, their excitement growing as they realized just how much talent was out there.

Luna and Stella were in awe as they sat side by side in their bedroom, their laptops open to the flood of submissions for their auditions.

"I can't believe people actually want to join us," Luna said, her voice full of wonder. "We're just a couple of girls who sing in our bedroom."

Stella nodded in agreement, a smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "I know," she said, her voice awash with amazement. "But I think that's what makes us special.

Luna's eyes shone with excitement as she imagined herself on stage, the bright lights and the roar of the crowd surrounding her. "I can't wait to perform on a big stage," she said, her voice trembling with anticipation. "Just think of it—singing our songs in front of a real audience."

Stella grinned, her heart racing with excitement. "We're going to be amazing," she said, her voice full of confidence. "We've got the talent, and we've got the passion. Nothing can stop us now."

Luna and Stella spent hours poring over the submissions, watching and re-watching each video, carefully considering each applicant. Eventually, they narrowed it down to three girls: Sarah, a gifted bassist; Mia, a talented drummer; and Emma, an exceptional keyboardist.

Luna took a deep breath, her fingers hovering over the keyboard. "Okay," she said, her voice determined. "Let's send them a message and ask them to meet us at our house next week."

Stella nodded in agreement, her heart beating fast with excitement.

Luna typed out a message, her fingers flying over the keys as she addressed each of the girls individually. "Hey Sarah, Mia, and Emma," she wrote. "We loved your submissions and we'd love to have you audition for our band in person. Would you be able to meet us at our house next week?"

Stella hovered over Luna's shoulder, biting her lip in nervous anticipation. "Do you think they'll say yes?" she asked, her voice hushed and eager.

Luna smiled reassuringly, her eyes bright with hope. "Let's find out."

The days passed in a blur of excitement and nervous anticipation. Luna and Stella could barely sleep as they imagined the auditions, the possibility of forming a real band with these three talented girls filling their dreams with music.

Finally, the day arrived. Luna and Stella spent the morning cleaning the house, ensuring that it was perfect for their visitors. They set up chairs in the living room, arranged refreshments on the coffee table, and placed their guitars in the corner.

As they finished their preparations, the doorbell rang.

Three girls stood at the door, their nervous smiles and eager faces betraying their excitement.

"Hi, I'm Sarah," the first girl said, extending her hand in a friendly gesture. "I play the bass." Her long, blonde hair was pulled into a ponytail, and she wore a Nirvana t-shirt with a denim skirt.

"Hi there, I'm Mia," the second girl said, her brown eyes shining with enthusiasm. "I play the drums." Her dark hair was pulled back in a tight bun, and she wore black skinny jeans and a Metallica t-shirt.

The last girl, Emma, stepped forward with a shy smile. "Hi," she said, her voice soft and gentle. "I play the keyboard. I'm Emma." Her red hair was styled into loose curls, and she wore a flowy, floral dress that complemented her pale complexion.

Luna and Stella exchanged smiles, their hearts swelling with warmth as they welcomed the three girls into their home.

"Thank you so much for coming," Stella said, her voice filled with gratitude. "We're really excited to get to know you all better and hear you play."

Sarah, Mia, and Emma took their seats, their nerves palpable as they faced Luna and Stella.

"So," Luna began, her voice confident and calm. "Let's start with Sarah. Tell us about yourself and how long you've been playing the bass."

Sarah smiled, her blue eyes crinkling at the corners. "I've been playing bass for about five years now," she said. "My dad introduced me to rock music when I was younger, and I've been hooked ever since.
