Chapter 9 - Bone Crushing Pain 1

Jason did not hesitate any further, mentally clicking on the item on his page and inspiring a new blue Pop-up to appear on top.

|| Body Moulding Pill ||

—————

A Pill that when ingested, permanently increases the Body's Dexterity, Strength, and Constitution by a small margin. Also as the effect of rectifying any low-level abnormal body statuses to an extent.

Jason read this and got a bit excited. So this was a pill that could make him stronger, huh… And even more importantly, this pill was something that could heal any abnormal status. Did that not mean it would heal him?

Now the name made a bit more sense. Moulding… like clay or metal. It basically meant that something raw was being reshaped, and reforged. It was a little unsettling, but that was exactly what Jason needed right now. Some good reforging.

Jason got excited a bit. But he kept grounding himself. This whole system might be the product of his hallucination. Everything might be fake. He had to be calm. That was what he was telling himself, as he clicked on the Export button.

With a bit of a nudge, he saw something shimmer in the air in front of him before materialising a pill into existence. The pill hovered briefly as if it was giving him time to acclimate. Then, understanding that it was a real thing, Jason reached out and it fell into his hands.

Jason opened his palm, exposing a round pill about the size of a jelly bean. But he had never seen a pill like this. Never in his life. It was inky black in colour as if someone took some oil and froze it in place. Even more amazingly it even had a swirl of grey in there that moved around. It was like a storm, and yet as he moved it around, Jason felt like it must be solid.

Putting it next to his nose, Jason did not notice a smell. What kind of smell was this that he could not even recognise? Bringing it closer and inhaling it, Jason frowned.

How could something without a smell exist? Or maybe the smell was beyond his current faculties in his nose?

However, what was obvious to Jason was the fact that everything had a smell. The Universe behaved in terms of vibrations, and this was true on all levels. Feeling things, temperature, feeling, this was vibration. Seeing things, light, this was vibration. And hearing things was vibration too.

The only senses that behaved funnily were the senses of smell and taste. They were interesting because scientists used to think that it was all about the shape of the molecule as it landed on the receptor that caused something's taste. However, what ended up determining the taste was the vibration of the molecule.

This was why when Jason couldn't tell this thing's smell, whether it was earthy, sweet, or sour, he was a bit perplexed. Smells were part of reality. So what frequency could this be for it to not vibrate? How was it that it seemed to defy his every perception?

It was real though. After all, how else was he touching and feeling it? How else was he hearing how it rolled around on the palm of his hands? It was real… Wait… The System was real.

At that moment, Jason finally understood just how real the system was. It was impossible to fake such sensations. The System must be real. This also meant that maybe, possibly, if he ate this, then he could at least partially get healed.

"Guess there's only one way to find out," Jason muttered, and without letting himself hesitate any further, he popped the pill into his mouth. And to his surprise, the taste was oddly pleasant. It was like a mix of sweet and sour. It was tinged with something he couldn't place though. Maybe it was the taste of the void.

Jason did not allow himself to think too much as he immediately swallowed the pill, allowing it to glide down his throat and into his stomach. Somehow, he could feel his perception shifting at that moment. He could feel how the pill sank, settling somewhere in his stomach before finally exploding into a cloud of whatever it was.

At first, he felt tingles… And then… Pain. Searing, bone-deep, soul-wrenching pain.

"Ugh…" Jason let out a groan, and nothing else, not willing to allow himself to be discovered. If a nurse came in here and then saw that he was ingesting something, what would happen to him? Would he get studied like some animal? Would they rip his stomach apart to check on him?

No, since he had taken the chance to do this, then he had better stick to it. He was going to bear with the pain. And like this, he was going to persevere. Nothing else mattered to him at this moment than bearing this pain.

But would the pain allow him to remain quiet? It tore through him wave after wave until he could feel his bones shifting beneath his skin. Muscles were stretching apart, contracting to nothing, and joints were pulling themselves in ways that he could have never imagined possible before.

Jason did not even have time to think about why the hell his body was behaving like that. All he did was bite down on his jaw until it ached, fighting back the urge to scream as his body spasmed uncontrollably. He was determined to not let anyone find out.

Every cell in his body was on fire at that moment, and Jason endured it as best as he could, releasing groans and puffs occasionally, his fists clenched while his body broke and fixed itself again and again, tearing him apart with precision.

Little did Jason know that at that moment, his body was correcting flaws that even he did not know existed. All he knew was that everything was turning black and red and with a final sigh, the pain overtook him and his vision went to complete darkness.

When Jason's eyes opened, the world seemed softer. It felt like everything was more distant like he was waking up from a feverish dream. Blinking a few times, a thought came to him. His vision… was it always this good?

Jason got up, attempting to move his body, and he could finally feel it. He felt lighter, freer. What was this feeling? Just as Jason was about to smile, his nose was assaulted by a stench that hit him in the nose like a trained professional, making him gag.

"Agh! Urgh! What is that?!" Jason said, but then he realised that the more he opened his mouth and nose, the more he would take in the smell, and that made him try to close his face.

The smell was potent and thoroughly unpleasant. In horror, even after he closed his face off he was still smelling it. Removing his hand, that was when Jason noticed something that brought him horror. His hand was blackened as if he had soiled himself.

What the hell? Did he shit himself?
