Chapter 12 - Joe's

After brushing my teeth and getting ready, I stand in front of the mirror in my suit, ready to go. "Alright, time to hit the streets," I mutter, adjusting my collar.

I swing out of my window, the wind rushing past me as I zip between the towering buildings of Queens. It's a little chilly today—maybe I should've worn a heat warmer under the suit—but the city is buzzing, and I can't help but wonder what I'll see today.

As I swing over a busy street, a group of pedestrians looks up and shouts, "Spiderman!" One of them points excitedly. "Hey, look! It's the swinging guy from the news!"

I smile to myself. "Guess I've become famous," I joke.

As I keep swinging, weaving through the urban jungle below, I hear a scream—a woman's voice, calling for help. My instincts kick in immediately.

"Here we go," I murmur, swinging toward the sound.

I land on the side of a building, sticking to the wall with ease. From my vantage point, I spot a chaotic scene. A woman is standing on top of a car, and another woman is dangling from the edge of a bridge above. The woman on the car is panicking, shouting for help, but if she moves, the car will slide off the bridge into oncoming traffic below. It's a dangerous situation—one wrong move, and this could turn disastrous.

I glance around. The news helicopters are already hovering above, cameras zooming in. Great. Not only do I need to save the day, but I've got an audience.

No time for mistakes. I can't afford to mess this up, especially with all eyes on me. I take a deep breath, focus, and prepare to make my move.

I swing down quickly, aiming for the woman on the edge. A helicopter flies overhead, and I use it to my advantage—swinging beneath it, I shoot a web at its belly and launch myself forward, catching the woman in midair with a quick, precise swing.

The car begins to tip dangerously, and I react fast, shooting another web to the side of the vehicle. I quickly attach the other end to the stone bridge, creating a secure anchor. As the car tilts further, I fire off more webs, rapidly securing it in place with tension, hoping to hold it steady.

"Fwap, fwap, fwap!" The sound of my webs snapping into place echoes through the air.

I land beside the car, just as the situation stabilizes. The woman on the car is now safe, and the other woman is no longer hanging precariously from the bridge. I quickly place the rescued woman on solid ground, where paramedics rush over to help.

"Take care of her," I say, giving them a quick nod before slipping back into the shadows.

The city goes back to its usual rhythm, but in the back of my mind, I can't help but feel a little relieved. Another crisis averted.

"I'm on a hot streak"

We'll attack Mayor Osborne's rally. He's trying to calm the people, and we can't allow that."

"Yes, sir. Should I ready troops from Section C?"

"No. Use most of Section C, but pull a few from Section B as well."

"Are you sure, sir? We only have a couple dozen left. Maybe we should save them for later."

"It's fine. I'm not asking for an entire troop—just three. That should ease your concerns."

"Understood, sir. I'll handle it. But what about that Spider-Man fellow?"

"The bug? I don't care. Kill him or keep him occupied. The priority is Osborne. He's coming out, and we must take him down. If you can capture him alive, do it—but if there's even a slim chance he'll escape, kill him on the spot. Understood?"

"Yes, sir. I'll make sure it's done as you've ordered."

"Good. Thank you, Simon."

"No problem, sir. We're a pack—we stick together, no matter what."

"Sir Osborne are you sure this is a smart decision" asked his attendant

" Yes, why are you questioning me think I can't do anything myself anymore huh."

" no sir I'm just worried for your health as you have many plans ahead and need to conserve you energy" the attendant said with a straight face

" it's fine just leave it I need to calm the people's hearts or they will start going crazy with all these damn attacks happening recently" osborn said with a frustrated face

" I see so that's why sir" the attendant said think hard

" with me locked away most the time I can't have then worrying about me and they also want to know what I'm doing to fix this before more of them die" sighhhhh!!" osborn says while rolling his shoulders

" well alright then sir what do you need me today so we can make sure the rally goes perfect tomorrow"

" get more protection snipers heli make sure people feel safe but also try to keep many of the soldiers hidden we don't want them to think we are trying to pressure them to much"

" alright sir Osborn I'll head out right now"

" Alright let me k kw when your done with the work"

" understood"

Welcome to Joe's Pizza," said an older, muscular man with a beer belly, a gold tooth, and a cross hanging from his neck.

"Uh, yeah, can I get a large pepperoni pizza? Extra pepperoni," I said, walking up to the register. The guy gave me a strange look, like he was sizing me up.

"Are you trying to rob me, kid? I'll have you know, I'll die fighting before that happens," he said, his gaze sharp enough to cut steel.

"Oh, no, no, sir! I'm not here for trouble," I stammered, raising my hands defensively. "I just want to order a pizza. You guys make the best in town, and that's all I'm here for."

He squinted at me, leaning forward slightly. Then his eyes widened. "Wait a minute... You're that Man-Spider I saw on the news!"

"Uh, close," I said, scratching the back of my head. "It's Spider-Man, not Man-Spider."

"Very nice to meet you!" he said, his tone shifting as he extended a hand. "I am Mr. Aziz. I run this pizza place, just like my father and his father before him."

"Nice to meet you too, Mr. Aziz. Glad we're on good terms now," I replied, shaking his hand.

"Yes, yes. You saved that mother and sweet little girl who comes here often. I'm glad to finally see you in person."

"Really? The little girl—how's she doing?" I asked, stepping closer. "I remember she got hurt pretty badly, especially her arm and head. I've been worried about her."

"She's doing well, thanks to you," Mr. Aziz said, his voice warm. "She loves talking about you—big fan, that one."

"I'm glad to hear that," I said with a smile.

Mr. Aziz turned to the kitchen, called out something in rapid fire, and returned with a box. "Here. This pizza is on the house. Extra pepperoni, like you asked. Done ahead of time—nobody's picking it up."

"Befoee you go though Can I get a picture I'm sure she would love to see who I meet."Mr aziz said with a smile

A bit later.

"Wow, thank you so much! I promise I'll pay full price next time," I said, waving as I headed for the door. After out little exchange
