Raitha stretched out her small finger toward Shyam, her soft hands almost like cotton, holding a sincerity that could melt hearts. Shyam's face turned bright red, as if he would explode from embarrassment. Her unexpected words flooded his mind with a hundred questions.
Trying to compose himself despite his racing heart, Shyam managed to say, "Listen, Raitha, I know how much you care about me, and I really appreciate it. But I'm certain Ritika won't decline my proposal. I've done so much for her, and I know she'll see that. But… if she does, then yes—I'll be your boyfriend. No question."
Raitha smiled faintly, though her eyes betrayed a hint of sadness. Before either of them could say more, the door to the apartment burst open. It was Ritika.
She walked in, her face glowing with happiness, carrying an air of excitement that was hard to ignore. Without hesitation, she sat on the floor with them, bubbling with enthusiasm.

But Shyam didn't let himself break. He held back the tears welling in his eyes and managed a strained smile. "Well… well, that's incredible news. I'm happy for you, really. Congratulations on your success. But, uh, I've got some personal matters to take care of, so I can't celebrate with you right now. Sorry about that."
Ritika, too lost in her excitement, barely registered the pain in his voice. She stood up, grabbed her bag, and with a radiant smile said, "Thank you! I'll see you around. Bye!"
And just like that, she was gone.
The silence that followed was deafening. Shyam sat there, staring at the door, his mind replaying everything he'd done for her—only to be discarded like he was nothing more than a stepping stone to her success.
Before the tears could spill, he remembered Raitha sitting beside him. Forcing himself to hold it together, he muttered, "You should go too, Raitha."
But she didn't move. Instead, she placed her hand gently on his head, stroking it like she was trying to soothe his pain.
"I told you this would happen," she said softly. "She's an actress now, Shyam. She has bigger dreams, more success waiting for her. She won't even remember you in a year… maybe not even in a few months. You'll be just a stranger to her."
Her voice trembled as she added, "So… will you be my boyfriend now?"
Shyam looked at her, his mind clouded with emotions. He thought to himself,
