Percy Jackson's Log

Date: September 8, 2023

Here I am, again, though I sometimes wonder if I should have learned not to keep a journal with me during a mission, but I realize it's the best way to keep my mind intact after chaos breaks out...

Because my life has never been a paradise day at the beach since I was 12 years old (and that's literal, considering the number of times I've swum with monsters in the water), but this time things have reached a new level of weirdness. And that is saying something.

As you know, I've been serving in the Navy for a while, and I've been in the Navy SEALs ever since. The work is intense, but in a way, it's a relief compared to the days when the Greek gods would throw me back and forth on quests.

The physical and mental training in the SEALs is intense, but I never imagined that I would end up using my demigod skills in the middle of a rescue mission on the India-China border. This is where chaos becomes an art.

It all started as a standard mission.

A terrorist group had kidnapped some American citizens and we had to go in, rescue them and leave without a trace. Nothing we haven't done before, but of course, in my life, nothing is standard.

As soon as we arrived at the scene, I discovered that we were not only facing terrorists. No, that would have been too easy. Apparently, monsters from other divine pantheons decided to make a stellar appearance, and of course, they weren't the friendly kind.

I'm talking about creatures that seemed to be taken from a completely different mythology. Werewolves with scales, snakes with wings, and something that looked like an ogre, but with tentacles instead of arms. . Although I have no idea what my fellow Seals saw, as each one seemed to see something different.

Yes, it wasn't the best day to be in the middle of a shootout and battle with mythological creatures. Using a gun and a Celestial Bronze sword isn't the most practical combination, but I managed to keep the monsters at bay before chasing them away, however, I knew it wasn't a permanent solution. There were too many of them and I wouldn't be surprised if they came back.

After a longer battle than I expected, I was forced to part with the equipment and civilians we rescued... after using the mist on them to get them out as quickly as possible, then I chased the monsters to a nearby cave. I thought I could find a way to catch them there, but what I found was much more complicated because this cave turned out to be an underground labyrinth with corridors and tunnels that seemed to change every time I went around.

¡As if I needed another labyrinth of Daedalus in my life!

Anyway, as I advanced through the maze, my mind started to play tricks with me or it was the maze, I'll bet on the latter. The corridors seemed endless, and the murmurs of the labyrinth didn't help at all.

I don't know if it was my tiredness, despair, or creature influence, but my sense of time and reality began to distort. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, I walked out of the maze, only to realize that I wasn't in the place I expected.

I didn't come out on Earth, but in a completely different world.

Now I'm in what seems to be the universe of one of the anime or cartoons that Estelle likes. In the few days I've been here, people here don't seem to have a clue what to do with a guy in Navy SEALs' clothing and weaponry.

The first time I saw the inhabitants of this world, I thought they were in the middle of a Halloween costume show, a convention or some kind of fair like those about the renaissance, but I quickly realized that was not the case due to the language difference, I have had to use translation spells to be able to communicate.

People clearly have Eastern ancestry, though mostly Chinese, so I easily excel with my Greek features. In addition, there is an air of tension in the air, probably due to a 100-year war.

So here I am, lost and trapped in what I believe is a realm of the pantheons of Asia, like the nine worlds of the Nords, I wonder if this is how Magnus felt knowing they were real; there's also the fact that it doesn't help that I can't feel the Mist.

At times I think about what this would look like from the perspective of an outside observer. How would you explain to people that there is a guy with powers who is the son of a god, armed with a magic sword, modern weaponry, and trapped in their realm of another divine pantheon?

The stakes would be high, from my perspective, and what appears to be a simple maze could actually be a door or portal to a whole new set of problems, which somehow acts like the Yggdrasil that Magnus uses to go to other realms, according to what he explained to me a while ago. Although now that I think about it, maybe the world tree is connected to this place and I can use it to go back, I just have to find one of those portals. And now I regret not asking Magnus or Annabeth more about that side of their family.

Either way, my first action in this new world was to try to find a safe place where I could take refuge. It's not easy to convince people that I'm not a danger, because with a 100-year war anyone would be paranoid. But it looks like I'll have to watch out for the Fire Nation soldiers I've been told about so much.

This is where reality hits hard. Although I've seen more than most people could barely imagine, and I've fought creatures that defy all logic, I'm lost in another realm of the planet. And while my Navy SEAL training and demigod skills have been helpful to me, there's no instruction manual here for dealing with this.

In the meantime, I've reached out to a couple of local experts who seem to have a partial understanding of what's going on. So it is not a total surprise that his knowledge is far from enough to solve the situation.

But before I go any deeper into this place, I need to figure out how to deal with the current situation. I must keep looking for a way to get back to my own reality, but in the meantime, I'll make sure I don't get lost in this new world, so tomorrow I'll make my way back to the cave I came out of, I just hope it's still there and that my strange luck doesn't throw me another curveball.

And now that I realize it, maybe I've just cursed myself

Sometimes my life seems to be an endless series of challenges, but I realize that's what makes it all worth it... and life not boring... As twisted as they can sometimes be.

I hope that my next entry in my personal log is not just an account of my failed attempts to adapt to this place or look for a way to return. I want to leave here with a story to tell Estelle and hopefully, with a way to get home before the situation gets worse.

Until then, I'll keep going, facing the unknown in the hope that somehow I'll find a way out of this mess.

With determination and a touch of sarcasm, Percy Jackson
