The chapter opens with Wang Lei reflecting on the origin of the Tower and its role on Earth.
"[Voyager 1] was a NASA creation, designed to travel deep into the universe, primarily for space research. However, it had an extra function meant to enable communication with alien life. By sheer chance, in 2023, Voyager 1 connected with an alien civilization. NASA detected the abnormal signal and, after decoding, realized it was a message—a cryptic clue about 2024. Though at first, no one understood what it meant, NASA eventually deduced that something monumental would happen in 2025. They were correct. In 2025, Towers appeared in various places around the world."
Wang Lei continues explaining the Tower concept, saying:
"A Tower is similar to a Ruin but differs from a Dungeon. Towers have multiple floors, though the exact count is unknown. Unlike Dungeons, Towers don't have a time limit; floors can be cleared at any pace. However, Dungeons do, and when time runs out, the creatures inside break free and enter Earth, making Dungeon clearance crucial."
"The Tower connects all of Earth," he adds, "so if someone clears the third floor in Korea, that floor is unlocked globally, sparing others from repeating it." And in an interesting twist, the Tower isn't exclusive to Earthlings. It connects with other worlds, allowing different species—humans, cat-humanoids, and various monsters—to participate as well.
After explaining the Tower, Wang Lei decides it's time to test himself further by taking the Hunter Assessment. But first, he opens the System Store and discovers he has 5,000 coins from his previous battles in the temple, where he defeated 50 knights. Surprised by the amount, he browses the Ability Store, where various elemental abilities are available for purchase:
Fire Ability - 3,000 coins
Water Ability - 3,000 coins
Light Ability - 13,000 coins
Curiously, Wang Lei notices a "Random Ability Spin" option in the corner and asks the system about it.
System Explanation: "This is a Random Ability Spin. Each spin grants an extremely rare ability, incomparable to even Earth's strongest 'God-level' abilities."
The system adds that the first spin is 5,000 coins, but future spins will cost exponentially more, reaching 500,000 coins.
Intrigued, Wang Lei doesn't hesitate. He selects "Yes" and initiates the spin. A blinding golden light envelops the room, and when it fades, he sees a new ability has appeared:
Ability Unlocked: [Copy]
System Explanation: "This ability allows you to copy anyone's skill or ability. However, there are limitations. You must observe the individual directly—no screens or recordings. Additionally, each time you wish to copy a skill or ability, the System will set a specific condition for success. For instance, if you want to copy a skill from Kim Yun, the condition might require you to embarrass him, fight him publicly, or even form a friendship with him. Lastly, you can only choose to copy either a skill or an ability, not both from the same person."
Wang Lei is speechless, realizing the [Copy] ability's immense value and potential.
"This ability is priceless," he thinks, unable to hide his excitement.
With this new power, Wang Lei feels ready for the challenges ahead, especially as he prepares for the Hunter test.
