"Never!"
The corners of Vanesa's mouth twitched into a smile. "Still trying to act tough, are we?"
She looked at one of the girls standing beside her. "I think Eira needs a lesson in humility."
The girl stepped forward and slapped Eira hard across the face.
The sound of the slap was heard in the narrow alley, followed by snickers from Vanesa's friends.
Eira's head whipped to the side, her cheek started stinging, but she didn't look away.
"Still proud, Eira? You could end all of this if you'd just admit you are a gold digger and after my father's money. Just one simple word—'sorry'—and it all goes away."
"I have nothing to be sorry for."
Vanesa's smile faded.
