Chapter 139: Christmas Morning
Eira stirred, her body ached from the night before.
Her back was sore, and her legs felt heavy, but the warm blankets wrapped around her made it a little easier to open her eyes.
The faint smell of pine and chocolate lingered in the air, and she blinked a few times, trying to remember where she was.
The room came into focus—the soft grey walls, the golden light of the Christmas tree outside her door.
Callian's penthouse…"so that wasn't a dream?"
Her heart clenched as she recalled the night, his apology, the tears and the wild thing in his pants.
She let out a shaky breath, trying to gather her thoughts.
The door opened, and there he was.
Callian stepped in, holding a tray with two steaming mugs of hot chocolate.
His eyes softened when they met hers.
"You're awake," he said, his voice warm but cautious.
Eira sat up slowly, wincing at the stiffness in her shoulders.
