Prologue
------------------------------------------------------
It was a day of commemoration in the Leaf Village. The memory of its fallen inhabitants was honored, and the greatest victory of its beloved hero, the always idolized Yondaime, was celebrated. Today marked six years since the blond leader of Konoha had triumphed over the powerful fox demon, the feared Kyubi no Yuko.
On the platform of the tower, the doors opened, and the people of the village burst into cheers as they saw their powerful leader come out to greet the crowd. There, in front of almost the entire town, stood the legendary shinobi who, like every year, was accompanied by his beautiful wife, the last woman of the Uzumaki clan—a stunning redhead named Kushina, dressed in a beautiful party kimono with gold edges. Next to her was her greatest pride and currently the greatest heroine of the village, her little daughter Kasumi, a redhead like her mother, but with eyes as blue as her father's. Today, she celebrated her sixth birthday.
Kasumi was a happy and spoiled girl, not only by her parents but also by the entire village, which venerated her as a true princess. She possessed within her the vast power of the fox. As was tradition, the Yondaime, also known as Minato Namikaze, gave his always solemn speech in memory of the fallen while his wife recalled the events of that fateful day when the demon attacked.
{flashback home}
It was a dark October night. In the distance, among the rubble of the village, a tired Kushina had just finished giving birth while her husband fought with all his might against the powerful demon. That masked man had appeared out of nowhere and, with incredible ease, stripped the woman of the Kyubi and launched it against Konoha.
Outside the village, the shinobi watched in disbelief as their leader faced a fierce battle, mounted on a toad armed with a katana against the fox that roared fiercely and imposingly. For his part, the blond man knew what the solution was; he had planned in advance all the possible scenarios for what could happen during his wife's birth, although that masked man had not foreseen the current destruction.
-It's time... EVERYONE LISTEN TO ME, WE'RE GOING TO DO IT... START OPERATION BURNING LEAF- he shouted commandingly, to which his trusted ninjas responded by attacking the fox from all directions while their leader disappeared in a golden trail.
In the collapsed hospital, a blonde and overly well-endowed woman was carrying a pair of newborn babies, taking them to their mother, who, incredibly, was already beginning to rise for battle.
-WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING, KUSHINA?- I shouted furiously as I saw her arming herself with her battle suit and the legendary katana of the Uzumaki clan.
-I'm not going to stay here, Tsunade-sama. Minato needs me, and you already know what we're going to do- she answered seriously while adjusting her weapon at her waist.
The blonde didn't have time to respond as a flash flooded the room. The Yondaime made an appearance, and with imposing orders, he silenced the blonde doctor, who reluctantly let the couple go with the little ones in their arms, wishing them luck in that crazy plan.
Back on the battlefield, upon the invocation of the Yondaime, the Namikaze family appeared with their two little ones in their arms: a red-haired girl and a little blond boy. In front of them, a young, pale-looking girl with two distinctive marks on her face looked at them tiredly.
-Rin-chan, you don't have to do this. I can take care of it; it's not your responsibility- said the blond leader seriously while the girl shook her head.
-I know, sensei, but you already know what Tsunade-sama told me. There is nothing to do; this poison is killing me slowly. I will not live more than a week; it is better that I die and not you.
The ritual began, and the shadowy figure of the Shinigami made an appearance, rising behind the group on the toad. From a distance, the fox seemed to be stopped by some kind of seal on the ground that immobilized it.
-Why do you summon me, mortal?- demanded the god of death, looking curiously at the humans in front of him.
-I have a deal to propose to you, Shinigami-sama. I want you to please seal the demon's soul in my son and its power in my daughter... the women of the Uzumaki clan are better at handling demonic powers, and I am sure that my little one will be able to defeat the demon's soul as long as he does not have its power- said the blond man without stopping to look at the god of death.
For his part, the Shinigami looked at them curiously. It was more than obvious that they knew the payment he would demand for this act. Even so, he was sure that things would not turn out the way they wanted; but well, that was of no importance to him.
-I accept the mortal deal, but I must warn you that even if I strip the demon of his power, his life force will still remain in his soul, as well as a small part of his own chakra-
The survivors watched in amazement as the great demon transformed into a small red sphere that floated to the little son of the Yondaime. The little boy cried while the energy melted inside him, and a strange seal appeared on his belly. Then a current of energy shot out of the little body and entered that of the girl, who cried non-stop.
It was a slow and agonizing few minutes when the process was finally over, and the soul of the girl called Rin was taken as payment. A demonic smile graced the Shinigami's face as he disappeared into the night.
-It worked! We did it, Minato- exclaimed a happy Kushina as she tried to calm her daughter, who was still crying. Surprisingly, the little one was quiet and still... too still. The Yondaime's eyes widened in horror when he noticed the lack of heartbeats in his son's chest.
Both parents were terrified, screaming in pain and despair. The process had been too hard, and the little boy had not resisted it. That is why the Shinigami smiled as he disappeared; he was taking two souls and not one. Soon a faint reddish glow covered the little boy while whisker marks appeared on his face, and the color returned to his until then pale skin. Soon the child opened his eyes while crying again, and the parents saw with horror those red eyes with slanted pupils, full of hatred, that stared at them before turning blue while the child cried.
The next two days were filled with exhaustive tests on the baby, which concluded that no chakra was flowing through his body—at least not human chakra. It was an obvious conclusion that the baby had died and that the fox soul trapped by the seal had taken over the body. From that moment on, the Namikaze family was never the same.
{flashback end}
Back in the present, the Hokage family returned inside the tower. As soon as they entered, little Kasumi happily said goodbye to her parents. Today she would go to sleep at the Hyuga complex. Accompanied by a masked silver-haired boy, the little girl left the tower, leaving her parents alone.
As soon as she left, they let go of each other's hands, and the redhead threw a cold look at her husband, who only returned the same coldness in his eyes.
-Don't wait for me tonight- he said seriously as he walked toward the exit.
-You're going with another one of your whores, right? You prefer to be with them than to come with me to honor the memory of our son- she said, annoyed. A loud bang resounded in the room; she had her face tilted and a mark on her left cheek.
-I won't let you talk to me like that. I'm your husband and the Hokage. Whatever I do or don't do shouldn't bother you; you heard me- he replied, annoyed as he left in an unknown direction.
(-You don't know how much I hate you. I should never have let myself be dazzled by you and accepted that ridiculous plan. If I had known what would happen, I wouldn't have accepted, and I would never have lost my baby-) Tears ran down her cheeks, and she disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Oblivious to all this, little Kasumi walked happily amidst the bows and gifts of the townspeople toward her friend Hinata's residence, while on the other side of town, in one of the poorest areas, a little blue-eyed boy lay sadly in his rundown apartment, awaiting his usual visit, just hoping that this time everything would end once and for all.
