Laiza, who remained in the shadow of the class, noticed the new classmates. She felt a brief moment of relief, as their attention was entirely focused on them for the time being. She thought that, at least for a little while, she could have some time to herself without being bothered.
During lunch, as they had a separate cafeteria from the other years, the second floor had one as well. Sitting alone, Laiza listened to the conversations and murmurs about the newcomers.
"Can you believe that guy? No Mana Heart, yet he's already in the second year. What a joke," a male teenager said in a hushed tone.
Another one replied with a scoff. "It's embarrassing for the academy. He's just a charity case to make the faculty look progressive or something."
"Yeah, 'Look at us! We let anyone advance, even if they're a walking mana deficiency.' Ridiculous."
"I bet he can't even cast a proper spell without passing out. How's he supposed to keep up in combat classes?"
