Chapter 40 - Disciple

This was the first time Vonn had to comfort someone—or at least, it was supposed to be. He'd had a close "girl" friend before, so he had some experience in comforting a girl, but never to the extent of doing it for a complete stranger.

He had saved this young lady. Maybe. Technically, he'd done her a favor by getting her out of trouble. Maybe. But the young lady he had just rescued didn't say a word. Instead, she darted a hostile glare at him.

Seeing that, a shiver ran down his spine for some reason. If she had the ability to scare people, shouldn't she have used it earlier to save herself?

'You should be grateful! Ungrateful!' he mused sarcastically, veins almost popping out of his forehead as the young lady pushed herself to her feet.

The lady stumbled, but Vonn was quick enough to catch her before she fell.
