"What is that thing?" Alyssia demanded, not breaking her gaze from the advancing horde.
"It's called the Convergence," Ashar said flatly. "A fragment of the same force that Ravager and the Shards serve. But unlike them, it doesn't follow—it consumes."
"Consumers?" Garrick asked, his voice tight.
Ashar nodded, his tone grim. "It devours power. Souls. Everything. And it's here because of him." He gestured toward Kaelen, whose glowing form hovered in mid-air, his unconscious face peacefully calm.
Alyssia's heart pounded in her chest, her mind racing. "Why Kaelen? Why now?"
"Because the power within him is awakening," Ashar said, his voice edged with urgency. "And if the Convergence gets to him before he's ready, it will devour him completely. You'll lose him—and the world will lose its only chance at survival."
Alyssia gritted her teeth, a surge of determination flooding through her. "Not happening."
