Summoning every bit of strength she had, Seraphina raised her hand and conjured a small orb of light. It was faint, barely more than a flicker, but she hurled it at Morvanna, hoping to at least distract her.
The light shot toward the sorceress, illuminating the dark room for a split second. Morvanna hissed, recoiling as the light hit her shoulder, making her shadows writhe and weaken. But then she laughed, brushing the light away as if it were nothing more than a spark.
"Is that all you have?" Morvanna sneered, her eyes gleaming with malice. "You're out of your depth, little girl."
Seraphina's hands shook, but she didn't back down. "I won't let you take him," she said, her voice steady.
Morvanna's expression twisted into fury. She raised her arms, gathering shadows around her until they formed a massive wave of darkness. The very air seemed to thicken with it, pressing down on Seraphina, crushing her.
