Chapter 1 - A LONG AWAITED DEMISE

Aurelia

I waited for this day so long, when I realized it was here I couldn't believe it.

Maybe it was the fact that I waited a little too long or the fact that I didn't particularly have anyone to mourn me, I kind of felt sorry for myself at that point. I was only 20, an age were my mates had their life in full swing, but I had spent the last 8 years in a hospital room with no family or anyone to burden maybe that was why the pain was bearable. I was only 12 when I was diagnosed with coronary artery disease (CAD).

I wasn't the typical orphan, I did have a family if I could call them that. I was the illegitimate daughter of a big family but our relationship so nonexistent that I didn't even know the family's name. My father made sure I lived, well he did pay all my hospital bills and since my mom was out of the picture he even hired a nanny to care for me. I guessed she might have been the only person who felt kind of that i had a short life because even I had grown numb to the pain. On the last day of my life I got to see the woman who should have been my mother maybe she was at one point but eventually even she gave up. She walked into my room, the very place I had been living for a whole eight years with wet cheeks and red eyes looking at me with pity. For a moment i got confused that did I really look pitiful or perhaps she was like that because of the doctor's diagnosis. for those who had yet to realize, my mom was alive and well and so she was only out of the picture for her own reasons. Not once in the eight years I spent in the hospital did she visit me and so when I saw her on the last day of my first life, who wouldn't be surprised right?

Perhaps she came there to taunt me or something but it wasn't a problem, I was illegitimate, the stain on the family she was trying to build, she had finally married into the family she always converted after a whole twenty year wait and she had a baby on the way. Even if there were step children she was willing to keep them than her own flesh and blood but that was okay, I had thought because I had no grievances and so I could finally sleep peacefully for once and so while my "mother" was still saying who knows what I closed my eyes and drifted of not into a dream but an eternal sleep... but who knew how wrong I was about finally getting some rest.
