Chapter 1 - chapter 1

hello my name is Saskiya Deen I am now currently 23 years old and this is the story of how I witnessed my best-friend Acacia get murdered 3 years ago this very day.

One dark gloomy day my eyes opened and I rolled over and faced Acacia, she was still asleep, she looked so innocent whilst sleeping but when she was awake dam she liked to party. I sat up and quietly got out of bed not wanting to wake Acacia as we had a big day planned ahead, I walked into the kitchen wearing some satin blue and white striped shorts and a blue and white striped shirt. I began to cook some pancakes; it was her favourite food, when my phone rang. I rushed over to my phone and quickly answered, the call was anonymous so I answered with "hello this is Saskiya Deen speaking" the call was awfully quiet as there was no answer so I said once again "Hello?" then I heard a soft groan that sounded awfully familiar so I replied again "H-hello?" the call ended while I was left staring at my phone my thoughts going on and on like who was that? What was that? Was that a prank call? How did they get my number? That was weird. I finished cooking pancakes and of course Acacia woke up to the smell, "morning sleepy head" I sat down and smiled at her "morning" she said in a tired raspy voice as she smiled back.

We finished eating and we were on the way to our next destination Acacia's surprise birthday party. We were blasting music singing to the songs enjoying ourselves when a deer ran Infront of us, I swerved almost running into a gutter the tire blew and we were left stranded. Neither of us were injured badly I had a mild bruise on my wrist and acacia had a little cut on the right side of her head from banging into the window to hard. Yes, yes, the deer is fine so don't worry about the deer but is the car you ask? Nobody asked but no the car was not. Acacia and I stepped out of the car and looked at the damages, you wouldn't think they were bad but they were. "fuck" I said as I hit the top of the car in rage almost leaving a dint, Acacia rubbed my back and said in a calm and soothing voice "it's alright we'll just go on foot for a while the next town is only a 30-minute walk" she smiled and I shook my head "no its not alright". Obviously, we started to walk we weren't going to wait there for some miracle to happen, by the time we got into the next town we were tired and exhausted but we had to get to the party, the party was only going to start in 3 and a half hours. I began to think what if we don't get there? what if I ruined everything? Why today? I ruined her birthday!

Acacia gave me a reassuring rub on the back as a smiled back at her, "I'll call a cab" Acacia smiled at me, she walked over to the phone booth and I sat on the side of the road. The cab had just arrived and we got in "22nd firefly avenue please" I said as I placed a 10-dollar bill in the driver's hand and looked at Acacia, I could tell she wasn't too happy but she was trying to smile to make me feel better about everything I couldn't help but feel as if I ruined her 20th birthday. The cab took us to the house and Acacia threw me a curious look and raised her eyebrows at me "what are we doing here" she asked in a curious tone, "you'll see soon enough" I giggled and got out of the car. The cab drove of and Acacia and I were standing outside of the house, you could tell she was eager to find out why we were here but I couldn't help but feel like something was off, I couldn't help but feel like someone was watching me and Acacia.... Was someone watching us? Who were they? What was the phone call? Was I being paranoid? I decided to brush the feeling off and I graved Acacia and walked towards the door.
