Chereads / My Siren University Revenge System / Chapter 23 - Purchase A Skill

Chapter 23 - Purchase A Skill

True to his word, Ryan escorted her back to the entrance where she stood and they were right on time.

"See you around princess, I have a task to do." He said, smiling at her.

"Task?" She was curious.

"You know what I am, and there's a new target."

"Oh, right. Alright, see you around too." Sirena had absolutely no idea what he meant or what his job was as an incubus.

They waved each other goodbye and she watched him leave and immediately he was out of view, she went inside and headed straight to her lecture hall. It was going to be the last class for her for the day because she was tired and was going to ditch school.

"Angel, what does an incubus do?" Sirena asked her ai as she walked through the hall.

"They sleep with sleeping women in their dreams and cause them nightmares, terror and they can go as far as paralyzing them from there. Don't worry, it only applies to wicked women. It's a punishment."

"Alright, thanks." Sirena was happy about her new found knowledge and was surprised that it was actually a real job. It sounded fun to her.

Break time was over so like her, people were rushing to make it to the lecture hall on time before the lecturer would come in too.

She sat down and the lecture commenced immediately as the lecturer walked in. Halfway through the class, the system's interface popped up before her, startling her a bit.

"The hell? What are you doing?" Sirena asked quietly as she tried to calm herself down but Tori still noticed her uneasiness.

"What's wrong?" She asked with concern spread across her face.

"Oh it's nothing. I'm perfect." Sirena forced out a smile so as not to worry her roommate.

She was staring at the hologram but there was no understanding until the system told her the issue.

[Your fifth task is here. You're required to purchase a skill that will align with your task.]

"I'm in class. I'm having a lecture!" Sirena said, stunned that the system couldn't even tell. It was not the right time to be discussing that at all.

"The system doesn't care about that as you have nothing to do in this world. You can figure out your issues yourself. Remember that you're just passing by."

"You're so rude, Angel. I think I'm certain that in fact I do hate you now. Plus, I don't want to purchase a skill with my remaining siren points."

"You don't have a choice. The system will not tell you the skill to pick but your choice may make or mar your chances of victory."

"I don't like where this is going. At least let me finish with this lecture."

Angel stopped talking and the hologram appeared before her again.

She went through the list of skills and saw a lot and it confused her. Why was the system making things harder for her now? She barely just ended up being a chosen Siren. Did she make the right choice by coming back and accepting the system? She couldn't back down now, not when her sister and husband were probably enjoying themselves somewhere.

She saw different skills like snorkeling, fishing, learning how to drive a race car, swimming, baking and writing.

They all sounded so amazing but she ended up going for snorkeling, and it cost her five siren points. She prayed in her heart that it would be useful in her next task and she couldn't afford to waste her siren revenge points.

[Snorkeling skill, successfully purchased. Hope you have made the right decision because this skill will make or mar your victory in your incoming task. You have ten siren revenge points left.]

"Sirena, stand up!" A voice was heard from the front of the classroom.

The interface disappeared and Sirena saw that the whole class was staring at her.

"Stand up on your feet." The lecturer said it again and Sirena snapped back to her senses, took a good look around before she understood what was going on. It probably looked as if she was talking to herself or it seemed like she zoned out which was the truth but nothing she couldn't lie about. She despised the system for doing that to her.

"Why are you distracted? You're in your own little world."

She recognized the lecturer from the old Sirena's memories. This one didn't care that she was the supposed queen of the school and would scold her when necessary. The old Sirena hated her a lot and wanted to find out what the lecturer had on her father. The whole memories came flooding in at that moment and made Sirena overwhelmed.

"Please I just need a moment!" She said, trying to run out of the class.

"No you can't have one–" But Sirena was already out the door.

"Sirena! Sirena!" She called after her but Sirena couldn't bear to be there anymore. She had beaten the record of running out of lecture halls the most times in a couple of hours but her mental health was much more important.

Her mind was in a frenzy and it hurt all over. Why did the old Sirena have to be so stressful? Since she came back, she barely had any time to rest. All she's been doing is fighting the old Sirena's enemies. When will it all end?

As she was cooling off, Mr Farlow called her from across the hall where she stood to come to his office. She wanted to refuse and ignore him but Angel told her to honor his invitation.

"Oblige."

"What?"

"I said go in. Your fifth task is here."

"Already?" Sirena asked, feeling her heart sink as she panicked. She understood that her life was now full of tasks and she had all the time in the world to prepare for this one. But now that it was finally here, she was developing cold feet from nowhere. She had no idea how long she had to stay strong when she had only just begun.

"Yes. The system will read it out to you now."

As she walked in, the hologram appeared before her and the task was said out loud.

[Your fifth task is here. Beat him at his own game. Remember you were told to use your intuition to purchase a skill beforehand. Yes, he is your next task. Listen to what he has to say and act accordingly.]

"Wait what? Why do I have to listen to what he has to say?" She asked almost loudly in pure frustration. She couldn't understand the system. At this point she had walked inside the office and her eyes began to dart around, anywhere but him. The hologram was long gone.

"Behave, Sirena." The AI warned and immediately, Sirena comported herself. She was in for some serious business now and she decided not to dare Angel.
