Chapter 24 - Sorcery School

Tokyo is vast and has a very prosperous economy, but the suburbs are also densely populated. The Jujutsu school is on the outskirts of the suburbs, and it seems like a suitable place to be a school of sorcery.

Everyone was quite free to act as long as they focused on improving their weaknesses. For example, Hisagi needed to learn a lot about cursed spirits and how to eliminate them properly.

One example would be when one excites a cursed spirit. To do it optimally, a barrier known as a screen must be deployed. He hoped he wasn't the only one surprised by that name.

From what Hisagi had learned about this cursed technique, it allows the user to construct a barrier that separates a specific surrounding area from another.

Generally, they are used by sorcerers to hide from the world the activities and techniques they perform in a certain place. That way, civilians won't witness the cursed spirits or the existence of those who exorcise them.

Creating a screen requires a certain minimum level of skill, which even the strongest sorcerers may not achieve. The difficulty of the technique varies depending on the complexity of the screen needed, and the conditions to create it also vary depending on the intended purpose.

Hisagi understood that the generated screen only affects everything related to cursed energy, such as cursed spirits, humans, and cursed tools.

They can have side effects, like canceling communication coverage. The screens enclose the target and are strong from the inside but weak from the outside. Usually, screens cannot be broken by brute force unless they are strong enough, so to destroy the curtain, one must defeat its creator.

"It's dawn..." Hisagi murmured after finishing practicing his sword movements.

The atmosphere of the surroundings was very pleasant, as there were huge forests surrounding this place, and the air was very fresh. This was undoubtedly a good place to live without disturbances.

As dawn broke, the landscape where Hisagi was sitting and studying slowly changed.

"Every day when I watch the sunrise, I'm always amazed at how incredible life itself is."

Hisagi's eyes showed familiarity, and he said quietly, "Will I be able to take solo missions from now on? I want to continue investigating that case of disappearances and put an end to whatever is causing it."

"Hmm, even though you're now a special-grade sorcerer, your fights aren't exactly discreet, and if you're not careful, you could wipe out an entire city." Gojo appeared behind Hisagi, who hadn't moved from his spot.

"I can control myself, be more precise, and cause less damage."

"If you want to take on missions as soon as you've just arrived at the school, I'll have to discuss it with the principal. Also, I think you'll need to be accompanied by someone else."

Hisagi slightly frowned. He wasn't upset; he just thought it was unnecessary.

All this time, he had been working alone in the field, exorcising cursed spirits and then disappearing from the scene, almost always without causing destruction.

He wasn't someone who liked to waste time during fights, so if the target he was going to eliminate wasn't very strong, then he was sure the collateral damage would be minimal.

"I'll talk to the principal. He's pretty flexible, so I think he'll understand that you have the level to take on high-standard missions like the one you want to choose." This time, Gojo was acting more seriously, feeling that he could trust Hisagi.

When Gojo left, Hisagi, who had been there for a few hours, stood up and walked toward his dorm to grab a few things.

Last night, Aoki sent him some new data revealing that there had been even more disappearances of women near the area he was investigating.

That meant it still wasn't solved. The case had been taken over, and since it had nothing to do with cursed energy, the investigation was much more difficult than one would think.

But there was a method by which he could get to the source of the problems.

"I shouldn't have gotten so obsessed with this case..."

"It has nothing to do with cursed spirits..."

Hisagi muttered these words as he headed to the baths, where he wanted to pass the time until Gojo gave him a response to his request.

That sorcery school could be considered small, yet the grounds around it were extremely large.

The huge training fields, areas where one could plant a tree without anyone noticing.

When he finished his shower, he carefully examined his modified uniform, which was anything but simple. It was a kimono, but not a conventional one, as it was designed in the figure of his dreams.

He didn't think it would be ready so soon, but he supposed that a week was more than enough for them to make his uniform, which was imposing.

First of all, his Shihakusho was made up of other garments, but all of them were slightly altered to make it less flashy but just as comfortable.

Hisagi had initially thought it would look like a poorly made cosplay, but now that he looked at the finished work, he was thoroughly impressed.

"I look like a powerful sorcerer. It was a good idea to send that sketch," Hisagi murmured as he left his dorm, pleased with the result.
